Wireless Charging

Hi,

I just ordered my g42, however the order does not include the Wireless Charging nor Wi-Fi Hotspot, unlike the car I took for a test drive which had both. The sales person told me it would be an additional $500. When I asked how the digital key would work without it, he said that digital keys are not supported regardless due to chip shortage (the usual excuse for anything these days). So questions I have:

1. Is it true that the wireless charging is strictly for charging the phone and does not serve any other purpose?
2. Is digital key not an option on these cars?
3. Is $500 what others are seeing charged for wirless charging?

Thank you

-Yuval

Can be nfc only, or wireless charging and nfc. See the pic in this post.

Wireless charging is a standard feature that apparently also needs to be checkmarked when ordering in dealer end. It also seems like one of the first things to go.

Oh so if I don't have wireless charging, I can still use the digital key?

When you say "wireless is standard feature" — is $500 extra according to my dealership

It is an option. This is from the M4 configurator page. Not worth it imo.

My car does not have the wireless charging (which I've heard doesn't work very well anyway), but still has the digital key.

If the wireless charging is anything like it is in my f40 m135i it's totally pointless as it's not lightning charge, so just. Expect your phone to get hot and charge about 1%, I was really disappointed with it to be honest

I'm in NJ, it was not extra. It's a standard feature. Was not an option to add when building. However from another thread drealers have to select it when ordering at $0.

With that being said it's also the first item gone via chip shortage

Wireless charging and Wi-Fi hotspot come together and are NOT standard. They may be intermittently available as a no-cost option but most people aren’t getting them.

SiriusXM and “satellite radio preparation” are mutually exclusive. You’d rather have SiriusXM; preparation is what you get when they’re out of satellite radio modules.

I had SiriusXM with 360L + 1 year originally but I lost it due to chip shortage. Got like $300 off for that

agreed, if it says you have Sirius you have it. if you have the preparation, it means it can be added, but is not coming with the car

My order says SiriusXM plus 360L. Still… no HD Radio?! I guess I'm out of luck on the wireless charging since they asked for the extra $500. Not worth it IMHO.

If you have Sirius you have HD Radio, it's the same module.

Mine was built on 11/30 and delivered today. No wireless charger. It does have the digital key capability though. The phone is placed in the cradle and then the car can be started. So the cradle does something useful, but not charging.

Thanks for the info. Think I'll get a MagSafe charger and be done with it.

I have an order for an M240i that hasn't started production yet. I asked the salesperson if wireless charging was standard or $500 and he said it was standard. I asked if he could add it manually to the build and he confirmed that he was able to do so.

Thanks Bimmerpost!

ZacMatic.. good to hear & good luck w/your order

one quick comment, you sure you want run-flat tires? Most here do not like them

Would you still want wireless phone charging if it means your car would be delayed a few months? I'm presently trying to weigh how much i want wireless charging vs how long would i wait extra for it.

i think the only option for non run flat tires are the performance (summer) tires.. if you want all season you can only get run flat

I don't have any place to store a second set of tires and it's too cold 5-6 months out of the year for performance tires. I have run flats on my A220 and they work fine--I haven't had any failures.
