Nightmare experience

I dropped my car off at the body shop 7/13. Hit and run on my m4 and because of delays between my freaking insurance and the body shop it took forever to get the approval for repair. Eta on the replacement bumper delivery was yesterday from BMW. My bodyshop just called and said the delivery is delayed until august 22…the damage wasn’t even that bad but they are replacing the whole bumper instead of repairing because it’s frozen paint and the spot the damage is on…I am so pissed off. Be careful with your cars because it looks like parts are not going to be easy to come by

Wow. That's crazy.

If they're going to be replacing the whole
Bumper, why not get the current one repaired with a quick respray so you're not waiting a year for it to be properly corrected?

That sucks man, sorry to hear

I asked them if I can just have the damaged bumper put back on the car so I can drive it in the mean time and they said they won’t reassemble it just to have to take it off again when it’s time to do the repair.

oh yikes.... I originally read that as August 22nd and thought, oh that's not that bad, just a week..... then realized you meant August 2022. Sorry to hear, that's horrible.

This is the authorized body shop my dealer uses…and since it’s Individual paint only the authorized shop can do it. Ridiculous right?

I thought it's was August 2022 also.

That's not bad really. They don't have G80 bumpers just sitting around I guess but frustrating none the less

The big thing is just parts supply from Germany. I have been waiting 2 months for a mirror assembly. Happens.

I hear yaa man! My car was rear ended in the first week of June and the body shop got the parts by the end of July. The parts delay is crazy.

My car was rear ended and only the tow hook cover was misaligned and they changed the bumper for that

Don't forget it's a brand new car and BMW don't have much spare parts to support body shop. Producing cars is more profit than selling spare parts.

I’m more mad that it couldn’t be repaired than I am about the parts delay…it’s such minor damage

By the time this is finished it’s going to be almost 2 months in a rental I wish it was only 10 days. When you’re paying over $1000 a month for a car it’s not a good feeling be to drive around in an economy car lol

Sorry, 10 more days…and yes now when I see it’s 2 months that hurts. I usually get Kia Rios as weekly rentals when I’m waiting for my euro delivery cars so I feel your pain even if I never finance my cars.

Wait, what? Other body shops can’t get the info to mix the paint if they are not officially authorized? Did you get to them through your dealer?

One of the downsides to new model. Parts aren't plentiful yet. It'll even out as time goes on.

Still shitty to have happen. Sorry to hear but you'll be so thrilled when you get her back looking as good as new.

Yes I got them through my dealer. I went to an indie shop and they said they can’t get the color code for the individual paint and they won’t do a repair because it won’t match

Not true. Parts departments make way more money than the sales side
