Does anyone know if getting yellow m4GTS running lights is a feasible option?
Waiting for IOMG 6MT m4(body panel assembly stage(not that i am checking every 15 minutes))

I would imagine the DRL technology is the same as what they used for the F3x platform.

You'll have individual LED boards on heatsinks placed next to the light guides that illuminate the DRL diffusers. All you have to do is place a tint in front of the LED before it touches the light guide, you can access these by removing three torx screws which hold the heatsink onto the headlight

Hopefully this gives you an insight into how they work.. I modified my F3x icons to be fully sequential with RGBWA light output.

Could you give us a little bit more info on how you did this? It would be much appreciated if you could list part numbers or manufacturers of the tint film and anything else you had to use to make this work. I am new to doing this and hesitant to do it on my new G80, but you made it sound do able. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately a tint or film wouldn't stand up to the heat.

You need to be considering new LED boards, or at best using a high temp epoxy and putting a drop of yellow dye in the mixture before pouring some over the chips.

Of-course the downside is this a pretty destructive mod and would require new LED boards if you wish to ever put it back to OEM. The upside is they're easy enough to replace, you just unscrew the LED module off the top of your headlight and unclip the board.

Does any one know what kind of temperture the DRL LEDs and boards get to.

As yellow high temperature tape is rated to 250degC.

Trial fit by just sticking in the DRL lens instead the LED housing and not on the LED it's self.

Why would you use a yellow tape when there are replacement LED boards that will accomplish the same thing without much risk. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not know if I like it that much to be permanent, and for £10 a roll easy job, and no risk if the temperatures are nowhere near the spec.

Don't think the led's get upto 250c but you can take the led board out and use a temp gun and see what they go upto.
But that is a great cheap mod

I have a long drive this week will post back with temps.

Btw, stick to the DRL lens, not the LED board as there is a little air gap. The LED doesn't actually touch the lens.

Another member did this and damaged his lights. Id just pay the money for the new LED boards with yellow LEDs vs risk damaging your lights.
