I disagree with his opinion having driven both cars but appreciate his opinion. Both cars can satisfy their intended audience very very well. No losers here.

I disagree with these reviews discussing costs being similar, as well. We all know that the CS is going to hold its value much better than a stock M4 Comp. I like how Matt mentions nothing of the front end, either.

If I'm not looking at resale value, and I'm completely ignoring esthetics... and I'm mostly interested in comfort, practicality, newer tech, 0-60 times...

nahh.. nevermind, I'm still getting the M2CS.

Chris Harris went from M2C to M2CS. I’m sure he could get in an M4 if he thought it was better. Not that his word is gospel but his opinion confirms my bias.

For most people, I can see the M3/M4 appeal.

Last generation to next generation. Performance marches on, and the pecking order is maintained. I expect the G87 will put down better numbers too. Nothing surprising or all that relevant really. CS versus C and a four way of that between F87 and F80 would be very interesting to me.

The M2CS provides accessible fun driving in low speed or high speed. It's gearing is great and it's 100% driver focused. The G80/2 platform seems destined for good things (design notwithstanding). If the G81 comes through I have a strong sense it will become our 2nd car to the CS.

I figured the M4/M3 would be faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile. I did not expect it to be ONE SECOND quicker around the track. That actually hurt me to see as a M2CS owner.

The M4 is all around faster, and includes so much higher tech and safety features. Seems like a slam dunk for anyone who isn't a die hard driver car champion.

It's not just track times that sways your decisions. There's no way I want a large car like a M4 - I already have a SUV for carting stuff around and it goes 0-100 kmh in 4.6. I want a car that wraps around me and is nimble to drive. The lengthy M4 is definitely not something I'd be cross-shopping a F87 CS with.

This. The new M3/M4 is kind of a no mans land size wise for me personally.
In an ideal world, I’d have the M2 CS and an X5m. However that new M5CS is appealing. Anyone on the list for that, yet?

I have a manual M2CS and DCT M2comp and love them both. I am just happy to hear how good the new M3/4 is. I never got a long with the previous generations (excl e46 CSL & e30) and this one, considering what it is intended for, it knocks it out of the park. If I could only have one car, the new M3 is hard to beat. I am privileged that it is one of many so the CS appeals more to me as a fun car, but for the one only garage the new M3/4 comp is like a Swiss Army knife and compared to Porsche well priced. Well done BMW

I have no problem with this review, but it was conducted on a track. I do believe, based on some reviews, the M4 will ride harder on a road than the CS. That may offset the smoothness of the ZF vs the DCT.

That said, faster 0-60 and faster lap time for the car that has about 60 extra HP. Ugly AF car though. Also this was a comparison of DCT to ZF 8 spd and not 6 spd to 6 spd.

I'd gladly have a 4 door M3C + a blindfold to go with my M2 CS.

The M2 CS is fast enough for public roads for me. I'd rather have a delicious meal that I savor than a protein drink that I chug down.

Gave up my allocation last week, just couldn't get excited enough about the M5CS.
Let's see if that iM2 materializes.

$150k right? I got a eye roll for the M2. For the M5 CS, I may have to sleep in it but you know what they say, better to ask forgiveness than permission.

Having driven both, the m4C is like being John Holmes but wearing 3 condoms. The M2 cs is a good sized pipe with no protection.

It's all about the joy of driving for me. I don't need to brag about statistics.
