You get a year free, at least here in the US. As far as subscription costs, call them to inquire, and then tell them it’s too expensive or you want to cancel. They’ll give you a significantly lower offer if you do that. I’ve literally been doing it since 2009.

I 100% see your point. I subscribe to Apple Music and use that via CarPlay 90% of the time. I told XM that, and they gave me a year of it for $60, so I kept it. But there’s no way it’s worth the full $250 or whatever. That’s like twice the price of Apple Music or Spotify, and those services are way better IMO

You should not pay more than $5/month in the US for XM. I just stream other apps personally

I've also been using Sirius XM for many years now. Began using the service well before there were music apps even available yet. I keep telling myself that I'll cancel but since I'm always able to negotiate a $4.99/mo. plan that includes streaming, it's not bad.
Streaming has way more channels than available on the radio tuners for some reason, but I suppose that is their way to get people to pay a little extra for the full plan that includes that service. I just tell them that I will cancel and end up getting it all for 5 bucks. For me personally, I spend way more time listening to much higher quality music by simply using my own music source with high res FLAC files that sounds infinitely better than Spotify or other. I want to be able to take advantage of the decent audio system the car came with and most streaming apps are not that great IMO. If I can figure out a way to stream my Amazon Music HD through the car's audio, that would be cool. Amazon has a massive library of HD music which is great. |
