MP Carbon Winglets - yay or nay?

Hi all,

I’m getting the MP front lip and rear spoiler fitted (I already have the Akrapovic carbon rear diffuser) and I just wanted to get opinions on the MP carbon side winglets as I am unsure about them (I usually prefer full side skirts or nothing). The new M2 CS doesn’t have them - just the rear spoiler and front lip (obviously the CS versions) so they can’t be that beneficial (I’m not kidding myself that I’d notice any benefits and these parts are not just for vanity lol).

Do you think my car will look strange without them fitted but the rest of the MP body kit?

FYI I don’t have any other extra carbon pieces on the outside apart from Autotecknic front splash guards and Akrapovic rear diffuser and exhaust.

They are likely functionally useless, but I do like them. I say Yes

I like to keep my car as simple as possible, personally; but combined with the front and rear accessories that you have, I think it would look great either way. Not sure if I'd put them on a car without the splitter & spoiler combo!

Interesting poll this - I can’t find any pics of a hockenheim silver M2 comp with the MP front splitter, rear spoiler, diffuser and no winglets to see what it looks like.

I think they look good as the final compliment to the rest of the CF goodies but I would not get them stand-alone.

I voted no, however, here's one with them on it.

That car, for some reason, appears to sit much higher in the back compared to mine.

I can’t find one without them but with the mp front splitter, spoiler and diffuser to compare. Definitely think it would look odd with them and not the other parts!

MARK M1 posted photos of his car on the link below and it’s exactly what I was trying to find (still not sure if it’s helped as it looks great with the MP kit, with and and without winglets!

I know that they don't serve any purpose but at least to me they seem to make the rear fender appear even wider.

I am a fan of most M performance CF accessories...but not the winglets. Just seems off to me and does not integrate as well. Now if they had a CF side sill accessory that extends all the way that ends with the winglet, then that's a different story. I think that would add more visual mass throughout the side of the vehicle, which again ties everything together a bit more.

I get compliments on mine all the time! I did them because my car is black and all the cf is pretty subtle, so why not. I like them!! All in the details.

I saw them on an AW M2 like mine and hated them. I do have lots of M Performance parts though.

I voted no because i'm not a fan, but its not like they ruin the look of the car either.

I agree. I too am considering it as my next add-on after the mirror caps, but not sure how It'll look without a complementary accessory like a front lip. My issue is, I dont want to go overkill on the CF, I think there is a point after which it becomes too boy racer-ish to me. I want to keep it subtle so baby steps

I thought they would grow on me but they haven't, also a reason why I decided to buy a different front lip over the m performance front lip was due to the winglets.

Ah yes, that was what I was trying to get at earlier, full CF side skirts would look much better proportionally and give it a more widened stance.

curious to see a pic - does the full length one for the M235/240i work on our cars?

like these OEM 'rocker panel blades'
