Technic PnP not returning emails

I ordered ref ASD bypass from Technic PnP about a month ago. They acknowledged the order but haven’t heard from them since. Being in UK I expected a few weeks delivery but they have not responded at all to my emails in last week asking for delivery/due details. Are they closed due to corona virus issues?

Before covid they responded in minutes so they're probably just slowed down right now.

Can you link the exact part you bought. Whats the install for this? Its it simple in the trunk, or otherwise? I'm curious to know.

It takes all of 10 minutes.
It's as simple as removing some trim clips in the trunk so you get access to the amp behind the driver side taillight. You unplug the ASD module, plug it directly into the harness and plug the harness into the amp.

Good news! Hopefully it arrives soon. It seems shipping slowed down as I ordered stuff from Europe and it took 3 weeks to get here, whereas usually it takes about a week.

Thanks. Honestly I cant tell which sounds are piped into the car versus not so have no clue what the impact of this is. Would love to see a apples to apples sound comparison video or something. But this seems like a simple and cheap option to find out.

Simpler and cheaper would be coding it out to be honest. I just did it this way because it's more permanent.

I know this thread is about a vendor, but I think the sound in the cabin is better with ASD. Without ASD, you hear all the road and wind noise more?

If you have a non stock exhaust you will likely have a drone with both the exhaust and ASD on.......which is why I disabled ASD using this harness.

Got it. But i think this video is the stock exhaust, and probably the best comparison of ASD on/off I've seen/heard

Videos do it 0 justice. ASD is extremely annoying, I don't know how anyone leaves it on. It's loud, extremely so at highway speeds, it drowns out the radio, it gets a rating of 0% from me. This SHOULD be everyone's first mod, for sure. Do it, and you'll love it.

If you're worried about a little bit more road noise or wind noise, not sure why you bought an M2 instead of a Rolls or something... It's a sports car, not a super luxurious GT. The increase in road and tire noise actually helps you hear what is going on with the car, and you can hear the ACTUAL exhaust instead of fake garbage. I HIGHLY recommend bypassing ASD.

To add onto this, ASD bypass, unplug center speaker, and add supplemental door seals, and the interior of the car is transformed.

Firstly, I dont want an M car to be quiet (nor softer suspension, better stereo etc.), I know what I was buying and wanted. My point was trying to understand what the difference is, and this video is the closest it gets. I personally would love more real exhaust sound in the cabin versus fake garbage, but I cant tell what the fake garbage is right now LOL. Honestly, a real life comparison is probably best, and you've done it I would guess.

I did install the door seals yesterday (thanks for the parts numbers Conissah!), and I think they make a difference.

Go for a drive with stereo off. Stop at your house and pull fuse and drive the same route.

Cheapest and fastest comparison. I did this before ordering Bluetooth dongle or ASD bypass because I wanted to hear it in my car, on my roads. Videos aren't a great comparison IMHO.

That said ASD was bad in my 2017 but I heard it was turned down in the later 2018/LCI firmware. I would assume the M2C has similar (improved? less obtrusive?) ASD but I've never driven one.

Fuse 122 for my OG M2. I assume the same fuse for M2C but not sure.

It disables the stereo and ASD (hence take a test drive with stereo off and ASD on to make a better comparison).

My best advice is to drive the car in Efficient on the highway at 60+, and then switch it to Sport or Sport+. That's sort of what to expect with ASD on vs off. Even on efficient I think it pumps in audio, but just switching between the modes there is a very drastic audio difference. I love being able to hear the actual exhaust instead of the video game-ness of ASD. If you can find someone local who has done it, then that's easily your best option. OR, if you happen to have a OBD dongle and Bimmercode, just switch it off and see if you like it. I have the harness, just b/c I didn't want to potential deal with static or white noise from coding it off.

Also, ASD off combined with some BMC filters, you can actually hear the turbos spooling in the cabin.

Sounds good, I'll find a diagram for the M2C for the fuse box

First thing and still my favorite thing I did with BimmerCode is delete the stupid ASD. In fact, it was the main reason I bought BimmerCode. Since then I've had fun changing lots of other stuff (like deleting the annoying startup messages, adding rear brake flashing for hard braking, etc). Nonetheless, there is nothing I miss about the fake sounds from asd. I drive with windows open all summer and don't need the drone of my audio speakers to let me know when I'm driving hard.

The drone is annoying and makes it harder to hear any playing media.

I just had the ASD bypass installed although the audio shop said they ordered from a distributor and not directly from Technic PnP. Clearly a night a day difference without the fake sound being piped into the car. Unfortunately this mod highlights how sad the stock exhaust sounds on its own even with windows open. Exhaust next!
