OEM Car Cover
Bought the OEM car cover when I got the M2, been using it for a year now, and have to say I am not impressed.
First, I hate the stupid graphics of the car profile they put on it, honestly, when covered in a parking lot, I would prefer anonymity to announcing to everybody that it's a BMW. But the material and fit are what's really bad. It fits too loosely, and will blow off in even a slight wind. It has a strap with a plastic ball that you are supposed to close the passenger door over to keep from blowing away. But I cringe every time I hear that ball knock against the paint, and it can't be good for the window seal to have that stuck in the window sill. Lastly, the material is too light. Makes it very hard to manage even in the slightest breeze. Anybody else notice the same issues? And what alternatives are people using? |

Ya, I looked at the OEM cover and knew right away it wasn't going to work for me. After some research I went with Specialised Covers. They are in the UK and the covers are on the pricey side (especially with the £ to $ conversion rate) but you certainly get what you pay for IMO. I don't actually have good photos of it, just a few taken with my phone but I'll post them.
The covers are made to order so they take 3 or 4 weeks to make but I had good communication with them and overall, I'm very happy with it: https://www.specialisedcovers.com/ I had the ///M logo added (cost extra) but without that, there is no way to tell what is under there. And it's tight! You have to work it to get it on!

After dealing with one for my E39 M5 I would highly advise from using one unless you have your own personal garage to protect it from wind or anything else tugging at the cover. On top of that, be aware that any dust/dirt/grime that is caught in between your paint and cover will most likely cause some imperfections to the paint.
