CF application

Yo forum,

I’ve got side mirrors that I would like to get carbon fibered.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

I had my diffuser hydro dipped. I wasn't happy with the vendor but if I would do it with mirrors, I'd make sure a clear coat was applied too.

Either buy CF covers or learn how to vinyl wrap. Check youtube for wrapping videos.

So I found the CF fabric that I prefer, I just need someone w experience epoxy resin/finishing the production. Good suggestion tho w the wrap, that’s def an option if I fail to get this done.

I would suggest to buy CF mirror caps from ebay. You can find them for good price and will look better than wrap. Changed mine also to CF and they look great.

I highly suggest wrapping them. Fairly cheap too.

Save yourself the hassle and listen to what you've already been told...just buy the CF mirror caps.

If aftermarket CF mirror caps were exorbitantly expensive, then I could see possibly trying to hand-wrap it, along with the curing, sanding, buffing, polishing...but given the fairly inexpensive options available, I'd go with the "buy them" recommendations.

Only caveat is if you wanted a custom colored weave, that might be kind of cool (hmm, now I'm wondering what a red CF weave would look like on my Melbourne Red )

They are inexpensive online and are relatively decent quality. Far easier to buy some online. Takes minutes to fit!

Nobody is going to notice the difference in weave unless you're parked right next to someone else with the CF mirrors and you point out the difference. Just buy them.

vinyl wrapping mirrors sucks i did it on what i thought were my mostly flat e90LCI mirrors and it was a serious pain to get it right. With CF vinyl you wont want to stretch it or else it distorts the pattern. spend the $100 on an ebay version and call it a day. 5 minutes a side to swap them out.

Nobody notices so it’s not worth doing is definitely not the approach I’m going for. To define integrity it’s doing the right thing when no one is watching and it goes unnoticed, but you still did the right thing anyway.

I agree with the posts about the wrap being a headache and not worth it. I’m not looking for anything more than what quikws6 just posted.

Quik, don’t post about those mirrors anymore! haha I’m definitely digging those mirrors man, absolutely LOVE them. This is THE look I am after.

Someone has to know a place that does carbon fiber applications like that.
