Crackling Noise From Speakers

I've just revived my 335i E91 with a replacement engine etc after a year of it sitting broken in my drive. For some reason there is sometimes this horrible loud noise coming from the speakers, front mainly, but sometimes rear, and not necessarily the same sound coming from each speaker, if you know what I mean.

I'm guessing it's probably a short or something. There was a whole lot of water in the battery compartment the other day when I went to remove and charge it...may still be a bit damp on some contacts or something - there's plenty of wires back there and at this stage I'm not sure what the source of the leak is...maybe it's running over something sensitive?

Another potential area of water ingress maybe where the cabin pollen filter goes, as that has been off for probably a year while I've been working on the engine...

The noise can be with ignition and engine on or off and the car locked even.

Any thoughts? Ta.

First check the amp area for water.
Which is on the opposite side to the battery in about the same location behind the rear wheel
well.

Thanks for the tip! That side also had water in it, and the tide mark shows the amp has had a good swim. I've unplugged it for now and will assess it later...suspect I'll be looking for a replacement. Better figure out where the e91 leaks first.

The next issue is to figure out why my I drive isn't displaying everything correctly.

There's a drain hose that diverts water from the sunroof to outside the car in that area that can get disconnected. My amp took a bath also because the mechanic that did some bodywork forgot to reconnect the hose. Start there

This is a real common problem.
Very bad design and or location for the amp.
Be sure you have a strong battery a lot of random
problems can be caused be a low battery .
