LED (LCI) Tail light Pricing

At first I didnt think much of them...but now I see them everywhere and have convinced myself that these LED tails truly make the 3 series look "newer" and well...nicer!

Looks like a pretty easy DIY but pricing is all over the place.

Sets can be found on ebay around $500ish if you look long enough. Can be found even cheaper if you buy the lights individually until you have the full set. Though you would also have to source the drip rails and harness to make it plug and play.

Plug and play sets are sold via vendors from $800ish-$1000 from what I have seen.

My question is this....do we expect a sudden drop in prices for these lights? I mean a year ago these were pretty rare and new....but now they come with EVERY model 3 series. So should we assume that because there are so many of them floating around that prices will come down?

I'd really like to throw them on my 2013 M sport as I think they look great....but prices are a bit high.

Price will continue to go down as time goes on.......just depends on how long you can wait to...."Keeping up with the Joneses"

ie prices for halogen to Projector headlights has dropped tremendously.

I have just done this LCI taillights upgrade and it cost me £600 all including parts and labour .

I don't think price will come down anytime soon as too many people are wanting these for their upgrade .

I had mine coded to be on all the time so LED strips stay on with headlight DRL

Man these LCI taillights look amazing

I'd also keep in mind that the LED variants of any lights are usually going to be more expensive than any Incandescent/Halogen variants, since LEDs are usually more expensive to manufacture.

Therefore while prices may come down, there is still the expectation that one would have to pay a premium for the LCI taillights compared to the Pre-LCI ones just due to the fact that they're practically full LED (except for the reverse bulbs) which make them more valuable from both a demand and materials standpoint.

This is especially true if you compare the prices of any car model lights on eBay.

The only real way the lights would fall in price, is if they start making Aftermarket OE (OE-Like) grade lights without the BMW mark on it.

Do companies do that with BMW?
I know aftermarket companies make GTI/R led headlights and taillights that look just like OEM but for half the price

Agreed!
Euro LCI LED i.e. The amber ones are just fantastic to look at especially in the US as you don't see many of them.

I am not sure of the difference between US & Euro LCI tail lights but honestly I don't see much difference at night with the newer lights. IMHO I think $800 could be spent better on other things.
