LTB: Wanted 325i/330i manual e92 '06-07
LTB: e92 325/330/330d Manual '06-07 NOW...
Wanted 325i/330i manual e92? new list of desired specs: So to summarize right now i am looking for: e92 with a 3 liter engine can be 2.5 or 3.0 in either petrol or diesel (might consider a 2.0d but would need timing chain/tensioners changed and would depend on price) DPF to not have been removed/deleted as i am pretty sure i will need to get it back on in the next few years as laws change Swirl Flaps to have been nulled Leather heated seats (in best case scenario some other color than black) iDrive would be beneficial but depending on the price i will be interested in retrofitting CIC anyhow Gearbox ideally manual but will consider an automatic as well Most wanted color of the car would be blue, but would consider other colors Xenons to be white and not standard yellow Mileage around 120k Location not too far away from Leeds so around 100miles radius, but might go an extra mile Budget currently at around £7k Last edited by geltance; 03-25-2017 at 06:25 PM.. I'll be selling my 57 plate E92 330D M Sport (inc rare manual gearbox) soon, not leather or idrive though (does have 6FL for ipod control which was all I was bothered about really, got pro nav in my new E92 and to be honest I rarely use it, just turn the screen off and pretend it's not there!) The seats in my old car are at least twice as comfortable as the leather in the new car as well, the leather looks nicer (but wears faster), if you're in the car a lot like I am go for the non leather more comfortable seats. Plenty of good deals on here for full CIC idrive retrofit at cheap prices (which is many many times better than the CCC nav that would have been in an 06-07 car anyway). Full leather interiors also come up regularly at cheap prices if you really must have both. Anyway, sounds like it might not fit what you want but thought I'd put it out there, full BMW service history etc. Easily the best car I've ever owned and most reliable as well, have refused to sell it for the last year as I didn't want to give it up but owning two identical cars is a bit crazy so think I finally need to force myself to sell one of them (2x road tax, insurance etc etc is also starting to add up!)

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...&highlight=cic much cheaper of course to buy the parts and do it yourself if you know what you're doing, quick search of the classified's finds a few threads for this, eg mr_vys had a full set of every required part at £750/£1100ish for everything completely fitted, finding the parts yourself would be even cheaper if you know where to look http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...&highlight=cic Suggest you have a chat with the retrofit specialists and get an idea of what they can do for you/best prices. If you go that route they can load the right firmware on the CIC for free bmw apps/internet etc as well which normally costs hundreds for official fsc activation code. I'd say CIC retrofit is your best bet, if you found another 06-07 e92 with factory nav it would be the old rubbish CCC nav that runs off a DVD, non HD screen etc so you'd want to upgrade it to CIC anyway... |

yeah i was thinking of getting an aftermarket headunit (kenwood, pioneer etc) at some point, but i think the location of the screen would require me to take my eyes off a road too much. so CIC retrofitting is the best bet indeed if i find a right non idrive car but it all depends on prices...

Going from non idrive to idrive is possible and has been done as retrofits previously.
But costs will reach around £1000 or above for the retrofit which most like myself find its not worth it. Better off buying one with idrive already in it. Unless you have the know how yourself then all you need it the parts |

I had a E92 non idrive. Really wanted to do a retrofit and brought all the gear. screen, controller, player, looms etc. which cost in excess of £400.
When i was quoted over £600 just to fit it in i threw in the towel and sold all the goods back off. What to consider is the price of a model with idrive will be considerably more compared to non idrive. So work out the costs and if the retrofit is feasible then go for it. For some they like a project so it works out perfect for them. |

Now problem is.. do i want to invest that money/time/hassle into a 10yo car, that is likely to require actual technical repairs in the near future? |

Personally I find a huge bright screen right in your eyeline to be massively distracting when driving especially at night (even on lowest brightness it's far too bright), I purposely purchased my original E92 without any nav for that reason. When it came to finding a new car I wanted the very latest 330D M Sport E92 I could find with a manual gearbox and decent audio, having pro nav was a compromise I made (but only after I'd confirmed the screen could be turned off!). There's a reason why the first job I did after buying the car before even driving it was programming button 8 to shut the screen off. I understand most people prefer the bling factor of a nice big screen but I genuinely wouldn't miss it, obviously everyone's entitled to their own opinion though and for some maybe it really is considered essential. Main use of mine is occasional sat nav duties but even a £50 tomtom has more features so if that's the reasons for wanting it I'd seriously consider saving the money and not bothering with it (the CIC units aren't particularly reliable either, my late June 13 plate car just had a replacement CIC fitted under warranty due to red screen failure!). Might be worth looking into NBT evo retrofits? More money than a CIC admittedly but that's the later nav which is much more up to date, just don't get stuck with a CCC though.

Vorph fitted my cic system into my e90 from scratch including the combox and he did a real good job, he also did the retrofitting of my folding mirrors as well at the same time
I did search for a e90 with the cic already fitted from factory but this cost a lot more for the same mileage year etc.... |

For myself i wouldnt want to touch a car that has had a retrofit i drive as you need to hack into all the vehicle electronics etc. Plus the price doesnt justify for me as my sole use would be the sat nav and purley i think the screen looks sexy and makes the interior better |

You could buy mine if you could stretch your budget worth it for the money I've put into it in preventative maintenance over the past year.

I will tend to disagree simply because there are 330's on autotrader/gumtree/ebay from dealers around that price, just nothing that caught my eye within my location radius. It is reasonable to expect a lower price from private seller than a dealer.

So why haven't you bought one in that case if they're readily available and match your quite specific specification and budget requirements?
