Well...my sharkfin antenna cover is missing....
Saw it today.
Went to watch a movie and have dinner. Dropped my friend off, parked and saw that my sharkfin attenna is gone. 1) I did get my car hand washed today. but I noticed it was still there but maybe the water got to the adhesive? Came off while driving? I back tracked all the roads I took from the moment I saw it until this missing. I couldn't find it. 2) maybe some punk stole at the movie theatres. UGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! ! |

Yeah. It's just weird. The countless washes I did, it's been rock solid. I was worried that after I roof wrapped, this might be a problem. But it was holding well. I don't know what to believe.
I just ordered a carbon fiber cover for the time being on ebay for like 60 bucks. I'll call the dealer tomorrow to see how much an OEM LBB replacement would cost. I heard the ebay one i got has some RF issues.... |

Guessing it was something to the with the roof being wrapped, not secured properly? as I can't see someone stealing it. Also, you're correct in saying CF covers are purely for looks and will interfere with signals.
At least a replacement antenna cover (p/n: 65209259440) is cheap enough however, I bet painting it will cost more than the actual purchase price.

I had mine wrapped - so I would just have it wrapped again. no need to apply any paint. |

He did have his roof wrapped, so I'm not sure if it was removed previously to wrap the roof (I'd assume). Always have to consider all facts. Aren't there rubber gaskets that seal the electronic wiring in?
I don't think that this is the case of the emblems falling off. Just to note, my emblem hasn't fallen off and I had a February 2016 build. Last edited by MTHRAR; 08-01-2016 at 12:09 PM.. |

The antenna housing is held down over the electric bits with a thin sponge like gasket. If it was removed for wrapping top, then it may not have been put back on with the proper gasket. The gasket is not sold separately. One buys the whole kit--then it has to be painted or wrapped before re-attach.
Guess is, they may not have secured properly, and used a sealant that possibly let go. Get a new kit, and have it properly mounted using the sealant gasket provided. In meantime, keep the open covered. One can use RTV sealant, but if you get overage on it oozing out? well, it's not as neat a finish. |

it is very plausible that some of these items were lost and that why it didn't help but as long as the actually antenna is fine, i'm okay. I covered it up with a micro fiber towel and put the car away until this is fixed. Looks like the actual antenna is sealed. I never experienced anything like this before. I don't know how to feel about this. I'm just glad the replacements are cheap. And luckily, i'm going to wrap it so i don't need it painted yet. |
