If you drive it now and there is no noise then you might be fine, either way pay attention next time and DONT PRESS THE BUTTON

Hope you didn't damage the transmission.
I have accidentally tried to down shift while in D, but it didn't go all the way to P because I didn't press the button - it went just to N. |

If it drives normally and doesn't make any noise I think you are ok, but if you really want to take it in then do it.

the other day, when I was driving into my driveway, I placed the gear into reverse at around 5mph.. which is fine because its a safety feature that puts the gear in neutral. but when I tried to put it to park the car make a loud clunk noise like you described, from what I believe that is the safety mechanism to stop the gears so you wont fuck up your transmission... i took it for a drive and it was fine, no noises, even went to WOT, the DS has never been better.. the reason why I did this was because I was testing to see if it would be ok if I got the UUC Shadow shift knob, since it does not have a release button, etc etc.. test concludes, I shall order the knob shortly!

To be honest I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most modern transmissions have certain lockouts to prevent damage. If something broke then you'd need to take apart the tranny to find/fix it, which is what you'll have to do anyways if something starts to make noise down the road. I'd just drive it as usual and see what happens. Most likely, nothing. If something does . . .come back and delete these posts and then take it to the dealership under warranty . If something does happen, I'll be happy to edit/delete my post as well hehe.

I hope I dont get any problems because of this s***. Although Im still worried since i got a message in the i-drive screen: Reduce speed completely into a stop before putting your car on parked...something like that; and:your car transmission may get damaged! I couldn't really read since I was really mad at the time. I forgot to mention this earlier.
