Stereo 2/4 Harness

I am interested in the Stereo 2/4 Harness. But on Technic's website it says not suitable for pre 0909 production.

Why is this? What change was made at this time?

It tihnk it says pre or post 9/09

And I think the difference is the parallel speaker connection split takes place between the under seats and the doors takes place in the kick panels instead of at the under seat speaker connector. So to split
the parallel connection you have to rewire at that point an it has no
connector so it must be un hardwired.

Ok understand. Is there any other way to connect a 4 channel amp without cuttings the factory wiring?

I am guessing one way is to make my own plug and play harness using this? http://masterantena.soteshop.pl/uplo...fhjfjhfhjg.jpg

Will this work? (very simple quick diagram)

Basically I have got the front left and right cables going to the amp as the high level inputs.

I then connect the two subs directly to the amp.

And I also also connect the other 2 channels from the back sending the signal to the front speakers.

Or is this seriously flawed??

You have to split the parallel wiring in the kick panel

You have to split the parallel wiring in the kick panel
is the bottom line.
Then run the line coming from the head unit back to the
trunk for the amp. And run one channel to each front speaker location .
The ones for the door can be connected at the kick panel door
input location.

First job locate the parallel connection point.

4/6 harness does not work as intended on cars

4/6 harness does not work as intended on cars
before 9/09 I think The problem is because the parallel
connection between the doors and floors is not made at the
under seats, at least that is the way I understand it.

I meant 2/4 in this entry.

Thanks for the replies.

I am not sure why I have to split the parallel connection at the kick panel? I will be disconnecting the plug at the subwoofer.

The signal from the amp will be connected to the output on the factory harness. Therefore the sound from the amp will go to the front speakers and NOT the sub as it has been disconnected.

Edit - I was planning something similar to this, http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...50&postcount=2

Shouldnt matter. The connection at the hu is the same so 4/6 should work the same.

Technic of course is best to consult.

But technic himself says it won't work on his site

But technic himself says it won't work on his site
For cars built before 9/09

"Stereo 2/4: for use with a 4-channel amp to power the front and underseat woofers. Rear speakers are powered by the OEM HU/iDrive unit. No need to remove OEM HU/iDrive unit.. Not applicable to Stereo systems with 2-wires at the woofer connector (pre 0909 production). Stereo 2/4 harness does not provide remote turn on signal. "

Which is what the OP says he has.
Also I meant 2/4 where I said 4/6 before.
Oh I see you meant the 4/6 even tonight.
guess I didn't catch that.
