BMW Seasonal Tire Storage Program
Anyone use BMW's seasonal tire storage program? My dealer in Maryland offered it to me. I've looked online for details, and all I've found is a couple of dealer pages with this image:
The price is right for me (about $100 a year), a storage unit would definitely cost more and I don't have space in my condo. But after reading BEM-S4 great post: "PSA - Off Season Wheel Storage" (http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1061239), I wonder if the the tires are stored right. Anyone have any insight on this?

The dealer I bought my car from also offers this program. I asked them and they actually do not store the tires themselves, they use an external company who stores the tires for them in a different town. I didn't do it as the price is $160 + tax per season, or $320 per year. Not worth it in my opinion.

My dealer is BMW of Annapolis. All the info they've given me is preliminary. The sales rep said he had to get more info from the service manager as the program is offered through the service department. But, from what I've gathered so far, they pick up one set and bring you the other set, I assume to and from a BMW service location. I was told it's about $100 a year. Sounded like it was for the whole service and not per set. Also doesn't likely include tax.
I spent time last weekend rearranging my storage room in my building to fit the tires so I won't likely be using the service. Not sure it was worth the effort, but it's done now and I got bonus points for "organizing" from my fiance.

Yeah this is one of those "Services" where you're probably better off finding a buddy or family member with a garage or storage unit who can spare the extra 5 square feet of floor space for a stack of tires in exchange for some beer money.
In college we would just stack them in the apartment and lay plywood on top. Instant nightstand or coffee table. Super classy. As far as long term storage conditions, as long as they're laid down properly and you have some cushion between them (the cardboard disks Tirerack ships your wheels in work fine) and cleaned to avoid the long term brake dust corrosion they should be fine. I've had every variation of tire stored for several cars over a decade and never had issues with storing them in an attached garage.
