Front License plates?
Im picking up my E92 this weekend, and just now realized that I'm "required" to put a front plate on my car. I really don't want to do this, because I think it really takes away from the styling of the car. Anyone in CO or other states with this law run without a plate? Or do you have any suggestions for the most aesthetically appealing plate mounts?

Haha I will knock on wood for the both of us as well.. I probably won't run a front plate until I get in trouble for not running one.

I live in California and I had my plate in the middle (oem) on the side with that ugly tow hook holder, when I had my stock bumper. I got an m3 rep front end and just didn't put it on! The hell with it! I've rolled with no front plate (with it in the trunk) with out getting called out for it by a cop so so far. (knock on wood) but if I do, I have a BS line to say.

I never had a front plate on my e92 for the 3 years I owned it. The only ticket I ever got was when I was parked in downtown Denver. Already been stopped twice in a year in my Rover for no front plate though.

I haven't run a front plate in 6 years. The only tickets I've had were while parked on the street downtown and in Cherry Creek. So now I park in parking garages.

At least in south Denver (Littleton), it seems that the local Sheriff's (Douglas, Jefco, etc) could care less about a front plate. You'll have a high probability of a ticket in downtown Littleton, Lone Tree, Morrison, and anywhere around a CSP.

I only run a front plate if I am parked in downtown Denver or in cherry creek. The fine is $25-$30, I can't remember exactly. I picked up a screw in plate holder that I leave in the trunk. It attaches to the tow point in the front bumper.

Downtown Denver is brutal. The meter-maids look for it. I finally caved and put one on because the ticket I got was $75. I ended up buying the US Millworks one and like the looks of it.

I live in northern Colorado. No front plate since 2009 on either of my E92s or our X5. Have had two warnings from new CHP officers in training. The city and county police don't ever care. Knocking on wood now.

If you have the factory license plate mount, put plate on it, beat it up a little bit, and throw it in your trunk. If you get stopped, tell the officer it just fell off yesterday and you haven't had a chance to reinstall it. Show them the plate.
Most of the time they won't even give you a fixit ticket. Worked for me a couple of times. The previous owner of my car had it work for him 3 times in Dallas. He took the plate out of the trunk when I bought the car. On the bright side I live in Kansas now so it's not required. |

Not in colorado but I don't run a front plate but keep the plate in my trunk just in case. At least in Utah it's just a fix it ticket so if you ever get in trouble for it just throw one of the no drill solutions and then remove it after you get it checked off.

I second US Millworks. I've tried many different manufacturers of front plate holders, including several tow-hook versions. US Millworks by far has the best engineered mounts. NB: It's worth it to get the quick-release model. It makes everything easier.

I think only CSP cares and I got a warning because I told them there wasn't any holes to mount it. That was on thanksgiving where he was looking for a drunk anyway. I haven't had any problems, I leave mine in the corner of the wind shield in the passenger side and haven't had any parking problems
