If you got the separate tire protection warranty or purchased it separate at discount tire your set. I don't see the canned warranty covering this.

My first thought was "Why the hell would Pirelli cover that?", until I read the runflat warranty on their website:
"Pirelli Run Flat tires are manufactured with technology that allows limited low-inflation operation in the event of sudden loss of pressure. Pirelli does not recommend the repair of run flat tires and as a result, Pirelli provides road hazard coverage on all Pirelli produced tires that are manufactured with run flat technology.
If a Run Flat tire becomes unserviceable due to workmanship or material irregularities or road hazard injury during the initial warranty period, the tire will be replaced to the owner at no charge. The initial warranty period lasts one year from the date of original retail purchase (purchase receipt required) or within the first 2/32" of original tread, whichever occurs first. After the initial warranty period, if a Run Flat tire becomes unserviceable due to workmanship and material irregularities or road hazard injury, the owner must pay the cost for a comparable new Pirelli brand or PTNA private brand replacement tire on a pro-rated basis. "
Odds are you're through the first 2/32", but at least they'll pro-rate your tire. You'll still be on the hook for mounting / balancing and an alignment if one is needed, but any kick-in is good.

update: full cost of tire and labor covered! car only has 4500 miles on it so either the 2/32 was still good or the dealer helped me out. it was their only Pirelli in stock. phew.

pays to read the fine print!

Whoa, this was covered at a BMW dealership? I had a similar situation happen to me back in April. Car had about 5,000 miles on it. Paid almost $400 bucks for a mount and balance. If this is true, my SA is going to get an earful, especially since I asked her if this was covered somehow. When I told her I didn't have the tire insurance she shot me that "get your wallet out" look. LOL
Did you get reimbursed from Pirelli or not pay at the dealership, if that's where the work was performed. Real curious about this. I have the Pirellis P 7's

short post...third try.

work was done at a dealer. I think Pirelli reimbursed the dealer. all Pirelli coverage is in their warranty brochure on their website.

I'd have a nice little chat with the service manager about them not knowing all the coverage options. you'd have to be within the first 2/32 spec, but they could've at least checked it...
