Maintenance Program Changes July 1st
July 1st Maintenance Changes,
On all MY2015's the maintenance will no longer be transferable to the second owner with out doing an upgrade. So on all 15's the 4/50 maintenance is only available to the original owner. If the car is traded after 1 year and has 15,000 miles, the second owner will have an option to do a MP Refresh which will get them the balance of the 4/50 or upgrade to a 5/yr 75k or 6yr/100k. |

That change may take me out of the BMW market. I typically buy late model BMWs with around 8-12 k miles on the car and 3 years remaining on the warranty/maintenance package.
Not sure what the reason may be other than the cost incurred by BMW is too high. But I suspect this program has benefited the Dealers service departments greatly. Without this, I would be using an independent service center like I do for my other vehicles or do my own servicing. Would think this would also hurt their Dealer late model used car sales, at least for the near term until our typically short memories forget the 4 yr / 50 K mile program. Bummer!! |
