haha... I was in the same situation as you couple months ago. I decided to choose the 335i coupe because the E46 model just looks outdated now to me. 335i coupe is very close performance wise, and I love the new Twin Turbo's. You should just wait for the E92 M3. Btw you cant get the 19 inch wheels they are unavailable in the U.S.

335i. no question for me with the new e92 m3 coming out the resale value of the e46 is going to dump big time in coming months. if you are going for the e46 m3, try and wait it out a little. i'd just go for the 335i though.

335i - faster, more comfortable, better looking, brand new, and all sorts of aftermarket potential.

I was thinking about the same cars. I thought of getting the 335i, but later decided to get the e92 m3.
Between e46 m3 and e92 335i, I would definitely get a 335i. Looks more contemporary than the e46.

I like the looks of the E46 M3 better compared to the 335. The E46 looks meaner, tougher.

It depends what you want. If you want more comfort, go for the 335i. If you want more of a performance vehicle, then the M3 is the way to go. There's more to driving than 0 - 60.
And honestly, I'm quite surprised with the replies so far. We're on an M board, and several of the replies so far are in reference to asthetics. Personally, I'd go for the M. Although this one does seem to be priced a little high. |

I voted 335 only because the E46 M3 is priced to high, imo. If it you could buy it for $37,000.00 or less, I'd go for it. To me the E46 M3 is more of a sports car than the 335. The E46 M3 will be sought after years down the road, again, imo.

A 2006 with less than 2000 miles and SMG should be around $41-$42,000 tops... or what a base 335i would be.

1. Drive both, period. They are very very different in feel and character, despite similar performance numbers. 2. Wait for the ne M3 to come out to see if it affects used E46 M3 pricing. 3. Decide if looks, age and modability (+ for 335i) are more important than character, feel and driving enjoyment (+ for M3). Based on this I did not vote. |

The modability of the E46 M3 is no slouch either.

I'm not so sure it is a good comparison. The M3 doesn’t have 19's, Navigation, heated seats, lumbar, Competition package etc... Plus the price is too high, even if it did have those options. If it was nicely optioned had a much lower price, I would go the M.

I was in the same position and went with the M3, I picked up an 05 ZCP. The E46 M3 is a special car (its my 2nd one) and you wont have a chance to own one for long. It thinks its a race car, I love it
E92's are nice, but common, and you'll be able to pick them up for years to come. Do a search as this topic has been beaten to death. Go drive them, they're different cars built for a different purpose. The M3 can get old quick if you're not up for it... Really cant go wrong with either one... I would be happy to own either one.

Oh, almost forgot - I didint vote cause $47k is too much for that car. Pick up an 05\06 with 10k miles from a reputable owner for $40k. They're out there.
If I was spending $47k I would go for the newer 335i or squeeze in an S5.

i agree, i love my e46 m3, but i would have to spend big money for performance mods, the 335i has an advantage because its mod friendly, either way u can't lose, they are both bmw's lol

Wait a minute the M3 has only 1819 miles on it wow! I think they'd knock off a few grand. If you decide on the 335I I'd wait till end of this month, the dealer will be needing to make their numbers! I know if the M was atrade in the owner got ripped off on the price & there is probably a little play in the price.
