Recently I went to Virginia International Raceway with a buddy of mine. It is probably my last track experience with the e46 (building a dedicated e36 M3 track car with corvette engine), so I wanted to document the experience as best as possible
Part 1 is the drive to VIR. The last bit of it is the best. That said, this video won't be nearly as interesting to you germans with your unlimited speed highway. We were going ~2x the speed limit the whole way, so it's a bit more impressive over here :cur: Part 2 is a compilation of video from inside the car and the sidelines. It is not linear in any way, as my friend who was filming could only be at one corner each session. I attempted to make it as cohesive as possible and the turns do come up in the correct order throughout the video, but there are a couple places where cars disappear and reappear later. Limiting by what I had to work with :shiftdriv Part 3 is an entire session straight through, played at 8x speed to keep it interesting. This is the best of the 3 (as the high speed makes everything sound like F1 cars) and should not be missed-- if you watch only one part, watch part 3! Without further disclaimers, the video. First off, the entire video in high quality (probably requires newest quicktime (free): http://homepage.mac.com/ianlindvig/VIR_Experience.mov Seriously, watch the high quality version! On youtube (crap quality), Part 1: YouTube - Drive to VIR, e46 M3 and e39 M5 Part 2: VIR on track compilation Part 3: YouTube - PCA @ VIR, full session, high speed Full video on google video: The e46 M3 VIR experience |

By spring the e36 track car should be built a ready, making this the last event for the e46 . Makes me sad, but at least I won't wreck it there (as they say, it's a matter of when, not if).
Anyway, all the pics (125 of them) in full resolution here: MobileMe Gallery Some of my favorites: |

Geezus Ian, you trying to single-handedly make up for lack of e46 content on here?
I see Phil's car too, so wth, post up some shots of your new green machine.

Clearly there's no trim, no wing, so lights, to emblems, no kidneys, not mesh, and no stickers, so the car's a bit naked, but, so far I'm LOVING the new paint job Freshly back from the paint shop. Not putting any of the bits back on till next weekend so the paint has time to cure:
