In my opinion if Mclaren have to be bought up it would be better if BMW bought them but you can't deny the success VAG has had with many different brands.
BMW has been successful in resurrect Rolls Royce and Mini the Rover buy didn't work out so great except Mini.
But let's see how it play out.

Kinda incredible that McLaren's in dire straits despite the great cars it produces. Talk about poor mgt. Not surprised that we dunno what's going on exactly w that company...I mean, did we even get a real time for their P1 at Nürburgring? LOL.
I8 design is actually great and futuristic

Better looking than alot of modern cars

Nightmare of those hideously-oversized BMW nostrils appearing in new McLaren models lmao.

We have different opinions, I think it looks so dated/stale and still in the 'clay model' stage.

Porsche is just a subsidiary within VW though isn’t it.

I mean is there anyone outside the VW group now it’s huge and almost monopolistic in its size. They have now 10 or 11 different brands within the group.

I'm still intrigued at times when thinking back about the power struggle between Porsche vs VW and the crazy suicide of that billionaire. Lots of backdr maneuvering no doubt.

On that point, Porsche very nearly bought VW instead of the other way around. I wonder how many people remember that

Hey if that's what's important to you, this is the forum for you:

My Mclaren spent about as much time in the shop as my M4 GTS

That's what I averred-to in the post before yours. Ya, it was some crazy stuff.

The quality of the cars from Woking would likely improve if this were to happen. I look at Lamborghini, and the build quality has been drastically improved. German culture of quality would likely transfer

BMW hasn't exactly made MINI into a pillar of quality. But it is probably safe to say that Land Rover has benefited from BMW and Tata ownership.

sucks that VW is apparently going to buy McLaren. I for one would like to see another McLaren F1 with a BMW engine. Would have been great if BMW and McLaren could also have an F1 team.

Agree. My R50 with a Chrysler motor in it was dead nuts reliable. As soon as BMW started putting their own engines in MINIs, all hell broke loose.

I think that exterior design is all Toyota, it looks somewhat Lexus like to me. So maybe bmw is not always at fault, huh? I’m sure BMW owned McLaren would produce acceptable designs.

Maybe. I think it looks like a Z4 / BRZ ugly bastard. I'm sure the McClaren partnership would be better. Can't imagine it would be worse!!

Look up G29 hardtop or coupe renders. It can be a good looking coupe, just not with the Toyota body work in my opinion.
