My brother has a Pacifica he uses for customer visits and loves the low key. He’s a B7 guy and sometimes it sucks with the high end vehicle showing up at customers. I haven’t driven it, but it is pretty comfortable.

SUV, not a minivan. Might even be a cross-over. Depends on the underlying platform.

I will never, ever understand the north american hate for minivans. X5 too small? Unless you're towing anything larger is better served by a minivan, it is that simple.

No doubt a minivan is much more convenient. But I absolutely hate the way they look, I hate how they drive, and I hate what they represent. I'll gladly take a couple extra minutes of inconvenience for loading/unloading to have something that I can feel good about driving.

This is my thinking too. What an opportunity for a car company to figure it out and design a cool car with minivan-like functionality (lower, easy in and out, sliding side door). The car company that wins this one will start from scratch, possibly eliminating the transverse engine and front-wheel drive. I'm sure it could be done and if done right, it would sell like hotcakes.

Edit: I see the Hellcat and the Mercedes as examples of cool minivans. They may be cool, but that's not going to be a game changer like the original minivan was in its day or the VW van before it. Just adding huge horsepower and suspension is not for the mass market. Mercedes-level pricing is not going to do it either. I'm thinking that a car company can figure out a way to market a mid-priced minivan-like featured complete redesign. To do that, the transverse engine with front wheel design has to go IMO. Maybe a rear engine transaxle platform? Who knows. I think there is a big market for those who like minivan space and ease of entry but hate the uncool the current platforms.

It is that simple, but simple logic does not seem to apply when making car choices.

That said, minivans are all over the place so somebody must be buying them. They just aren't cool.

It's not x5 level but I recently watched a review for the 2022 Kia Carnival which is considered a minivan.
