My M2 Competition is big enough and is heavy enough.
no DCT is a shame. the zf is great but I don't like it nearly as much, slower and less character IMO. I'll prolly wait til LCI and hold onto my m2c for now

M-DCT till the end of production of the US-spec F87 M2 Competition (June 2021). End of an era.

You can picture owning "a true M car" made in Mexico. All it takes is an open mind.
Zero issues for me. Very capable and hard working.

Trivia: body color of this G87 M2 test car is either white (for example Alpine White) or Silver (for example Hockenheim Silver Metallic).

No way there won't be one. Take rate for a 6mt for the f87 was over 50% and a 6mt in the g80 all but confirms it
Agreed, funny how the manual is making a comeback.

Hopefully. Or it could be that the few of us left are just getting funneled into fewer options and taking them when we can get them.

Agreed that it's good to see.

You are comparing a regular 2 series to a top of the line model though

I see nothing wrong with the look of the car in the photo...pretty aggressive looking in fact for a regular 2 series

The G87 will look mean...power dome, 1M style fenders...the proportion of the front grill is yet to be determined but I am confident they won't fuck up this time given all the non-positive sentiments pouring heavily over the current M3/M4

No denying the G87 M2 "promises" to be a great car. But, it's bigger, heavier, longer, wider .....

Soon, they'll have to introduce a M1.5 to match the agility and spectre of the E30 M3 turned to F87 M2.

Didn't anyone ever tell BMW executives and designers that size matters? and as anti-climactic as it may sound, in case of the ///M, smaller is better.

I could see this eventually happening as the M2 and M4 are separated out from their respective sedan variants. The 2 will eventually convert to a FWD based piece of junk, and the RWD 2 coupe will cease to exist. The 4 series coupe may also go away, as coupes are low volume and harder sells at this price point. This would free BMW to make really unique coupes in those two sizes.

So it seems G87 will have the horrid AMG style iPad rather than a proper dash. More cost cutting from BMW. More disappointment. More reasons to hang onto your Fseries.

I'd bet money the G87 is going to be fantastic. I suspect it will have manual transmission, CF roof, adaptive suspension, upgraded interior, HUD, configurable rev match, configurable fake engine noise, and be sized between current F87 and F80. And it WILL out-perform the F87, just like the G80 WILL out-perform the F80. I feel pretty certain the G80 is just going to drive too big for me, but the G87 will be a just right replacement for my current F80.

are you talking about G87, G87C, G87CS?

If just G87, why would they put CF roof and adaptive suspension in it? What would that leave them to play with when it comes to the higher C & CS iterations of the platform?

not "knowing" how to drive a RWD car is irrelevant as knowing has no bearing on the weather or terrain where you live.

You dont need to hope or argue about it. Buy the one that you prefer and stop insulting others for not agreeing with you.

I daily'd a RWD CLS63 through an entire Boston winter with no snow tires.

Do I get bonus points?

What's speaks to BMW executives is SALES; and they're saying to make 'em bigger (roomier), with more features and amenities.

Where's a sales metric that says we want a bigger M2? They seem to be selling quite well as is.

Exactly. Cars are already selling well even as they get heavier and larger.
