Dead battery
My son's 330 developed a dead battery overnight. Any ideas on what caused it? He always leaves the automatic headlights on. Do they shut off automatically? Thanks for your input.

You sound like a cool mom. I love mine, but I know she would never go in the web to ask some questions about my E90...
The lights should turn off automatically even if he was using the fog lights. Maybe the engine fan stayed on after turning off the car. As I mentioned in another thread, I noticed that once my engine fan stayed on after I turned off the car. Then it turned off after I cycled the power again. Maybe the same thing happened to him but he did not noticed it. Please let us know what you find out.

I haven't heard much of a dead battery. Your best bet would be to show it to service if you can somehow jump start it. Good luck

Re the battery, Iīve had a problem with my 540i where modules stayed on and didnīt go to sleep and drained the battery. One time it was the MID, the other I donīt recall. This is definitely something the dealer needs to investigate - Mom, tell that to sonny boy! |

To the guy that wrote that maybe the fan stayed on........ It will stay on for a while after driving hard even after you shut the car off that is normal.

Pacific BMW claims that the car had a defective battery. Apparently the car's computer logs the activity so the dealer can see any electronics that were at fault. They replaced the battery. We will see what happens. I am not impressed with the service department of Pacific BMW.

DEAD BATTERY after 400 miles on brand new e90.
No the car was not doing too many short trips with frequent crank starts. No the lights werent on No... there was no IPOD of cell phone charging. No... the car was LOCKED so there is no possibility radio mode was left on Only 7 hours after the car was parked. Got it jumpstarted with quite a bit of difficulty (battery totally dead) Took it to Stevens Creek BMW and they say "could not find the problem. Possibly something was left on." They charged the batter overnight and at least gave me a the charger / tester log. What a bummer! |

Sounds like a dead short someplace or the system isn't charging. Call the dealer.

I did call and take it to the dealer... Stevens Creek BMW.
They could not find the problem and wrote a note saying possible something is left on. Nice guys, but I hope problem does not recur. |
