This front lip in the pic above is purely meant to provide an idea, I cannot even use it for a plug to make the mold, we would create another version of it to do that.

Before we get in the particulars of the GB, it is really important for you guys to know why and how we produce a piece which may seem very simple to do. The pricing for this lip will not be in the low $200 range for many reasons, most importantly, because it is practically impossible to make one for that with equal quality materials and strength in North America or Taiwan...it simply cannot be done without losing money on each piece sold.

There is always confusion surrounding what a quality carbon fiber piece is, what most buyers are looking for is the finish quality when they first receive there CF piece and then fitment. Those two components are the minimal requirements.

Why it is so important is because many sellers do not understand how the carbon fiber piece is made, with what materials, resin systems or final finishing chemicals & clears.

I am always asked the following when a customer is contemplating buying a Scorza CF piece, I am positive these questions would come up in this case as well so I have included them below:

Q. Why is your CF more expensive?

A. We source only North American raw materials and the best of the best at that! We do not do pre-preg for the E46 M3 due to costs, we have done and will continue to do pre-preg but for industrial applications or high-end exotics. However, because the materials are the best money can buy for the process we utilize - the same best practices are used in shooting the carbon fiber pieces, everything is either vacuum infused in a bag system, VARTM (vacuum assisted resin transfer molding) or RTM (resin transfer molding). The last two I mentioned VARTM & RTM are closed mold techniques.

Q. What is the difference between your pieces in carbon fiber and lower priced carbon fiber pieces for an E46 M3

A. The process is different in making it and the materials are many grades above what they are using. For example, a POLYESTER resin system is the cheapest of the cheap. Has anyone ever bought a carbon fiber piece, installed it and felt the fitment was pretty good? A year down the road for some unknown reason the fitment seems to of changed? It is because this resin system will shrink up to 7% of its original size. Ever seen carbon fiber yellow over time or become hazy? Thats polyester resin, it has no UV inhibitors built into it, it offers the poorest adhesion possible of all the resin systems that exist, has the highest water absorption and highest VOC (volatile organic components), best suited for building things which are not weight sensitive and as a resin system permits what is known as osmotic blistering. Basically, what fiberglass is to carbon fiber is what polyester resin is to epoxy, a cheap solution...

Q. What system do you use?

A. We use EPOXY based resin systems only, they are incredibly tough and offer the highest bonding strength. There was a test done a few years back from a research company that found epoxy resin can be 75% stronger than polyester resins. Epoxy resin systems can bond dissimilar materials, naturally resistant to moisture, don't yellow, withstand incredible heat, don't shrink (less than 2.5% of original size) etc...etc...It is the best solution available for bonding CF.

Q. What about the overall quality versus the materials?

A. We use tier 1 level molds to produce our pieces, sure we can still 'eff it up in cases where manual cutting or trimming is required but from the mold, the piece is fitment assured when we pull it. Many of the lower priced CF pieces are actually FIBERGLASS with a first down in the mold layer of carbon. This essentially defeats the purpose of producing anything in carbon, but gives the look of it being a properly made piece.

Ask the company you buy from to provide the details of who manufactures the item, where they get there CF from, is it North American weaved? Is it pre-treated for chemical bonding to resin systems, can it be used in military, aerospace or aircraft applications?

All of the CF we use can be used for the above applications as well and it is made right in the United States.

On to the GB...


As I mentioned up top, it still needs a little work, but the design itself will be this way. The difference between the existing 1 piece splitter for a CSL style front bumper and //OM's for an OEM front bumper is the center air damn.

//OM's version (Scorza) will mate directly up with the center (original lip) on the OEM version front bumper as oppose to slip underneath.

The Scorza S.1P lip will be made of carbon fiber and epoxy resin, fitment assured.

Pricing

1 to 9 buyers = $450.00 USD
10 to 19 buyers = $425.00 USD
20 to 29 buyers = $400.00 USD
30+ buyers = $385.00 USD

Terms to GB
  1. Pricing includes shipping to the lower 48 States & Canada, additional shipping applies for oversea's shipments. Please PM sean@OM for a price quote.
  2. //OM or Scorza has NOT produced the mold yet to produce this front lip, before we invest in the mold we would like to know we have committed customers for this carbon fiber component.
  3. Payment is 50% on order, 50% on shipment notification.
  4. Based on where we finalize for the total GB count, the balance payable will the GB price less the 50% deposit received. Example, the first 10 people to sign up will be placing $225 in deposit, if we reach 30+ buyers, the balance is $385 less the deposit of $225 for a total outstanding of $160.
  5. Once your deposit is received, there are no cancellations.
  6. This GB will run till November 13th, confirmation of mold production will happen sooner provided enough customers join up :thumbsup2:
  7. Shipments will start within 2 weeks of mold completion, it is a first come, first serve scenario. The first name will receive the first lip and so on and so on.
  8. If we do not reach a desired number to invest in the mold, those who have signed up on the list will receive there deposit back in FULL via refund on November 13th, closing date for this GB :thumbsup2:

Remember, ask why a carbon fiber lip from Taiwan costs $200 versus a quality, epoxy shot, VARTM mold CF lip made in North America only costs $385.00

The difference is all the reasons I mentioned up top, the two items are not comparable.
