I hate Hummer H2s too. And I can afford one. Porsche should have stuck to building (great) cars.

Cayenne: Overpriced and for poseurs.

I'd agree with you on the severely under-powered V6 version, especially pre-facelift, I think it needed 11 seconds to 60 or something like that. But the V8's are formidable in that class of SUV.

or cayenne's are for people who enjoy driving and require an SUV for moving things or towing......

anyone who owns a BMW (for the right resons, who isn't a poser) enjoys the handling characteristics of the brand, that kind of person would appreciate the superior driving dynamics the cayenne delivers.

I really hate that porsche is making all this money, it'd be nicer if they didn't have cash flow to develop better sports cars.

and BTW, BMW is "overpriced" too

I hope those pictures are photoshops as the current Cayenne is much better looking. But I'm not really an SUV type, so I don't see myself buying a current or future Cayenne (not an SUV type of person). My opinion has nothing to do with being able to afford one or not (my next car will be a 997 Carrera 4S).

Come on, do you actually think that people who drive Cayennes do so b/c they have to move things or tow? They aren't moving much with that tiny cargo area. And, I have yet to see a Cayenne pulling anything. It's all about image.

do you have any idea what the tow rating on the Cayenne S is?

7700 lbs, which is signifigantly higher than many vehicles, including the X5.
they may not have a huge cargo area, but they can pull a big trailer.

I can't think of a more entertaining vehicle to drive that will still allow you to tow that much, can you?

if you really could afford a Cayenne, why'd you cheap out on your E90?

Where did I say that the Cayenne didn't have a good tow rating? I can't afford a Turbo, but I could afford a S. I don't like SUVs. And it certainly isn't about image for me. Ugly and overpriced.

I came up with a list of requirements when I was looking for a new vehicle. Among the necessary requirements was a good tow rating, I also wanted something that was fun to drive. The tow rating on the X5 probably would have been sufficient (the boat in the picture weighs more then the X5 is rated for) but I looked at ever vehicle in the segment and the Cayenne S beat every single one in every category that really matters (yes, some have a little more cargo ******* by more then a little bit. I would encourage everyone to drive a Cayenne S or Turbo before talking any kind of trash, it will impress you.
Given the mechanical similarities between the Cayenne and Touareg, do you suppose the Porsche can tow this?

you said nobody ever tows anything or buys a vehicle because of the tow rating. Looks like we found at least one guy who tows with his.

can't tow a boat with an overpriced E90.

I didn't say that. Please re-read my post. I said that I have never seen a Cayenne tow anything, nor have I seen one close to being off-road. Lots of people buy vehicles for towing and the maximum trailer rating is important.

Which target market is that? More money than brains? The Toureg has the same tow rating as the Cayenne.
