My legs needed a rest and it was *very* windy today, so I took a rest day. Might be a few days this coming week to ride outside, but our nice stretch of weather is over for the time being.

Weather still isn't aligning on weekends for me. Full disclosure, I am a fair weather cyclist! >60 deg, not raining and moderate winds, or less!
![]() My bike is ready to go - I lubed and checked everything. I want new chainrings but not in a hurry to do it. I have a 3x9 Shimano geartrain. Hopefully I can find bolt-in replacements. I expect to be in the pool again this weekend, which is not a disappointment! |

And here I thought I was the only dino left with one of these!
Rode to work today for the second time this year. Heading for home shortly (wind currently 16 gusting to 30, which will be a crosswind for most of my ride, but direct headwind for the last 2-3 miles ![]() |

Slowest time ever, both for the whole distance and for the final climb which was straight into the wind. The upside is that my next commute home (not today, had to drive) is almost guaranteed to be faster! ![]() |

Last Sunday forecasts were like 60% rain so I didn't get ready the night before or wake up early. No rain all day. Hope the same for this Sunday, gotta get the miles in. Little more than a month until Metric Century, hope I'll be ready!

Just found this page. Won’t likely contribute much here because my years of >10,000 miles a year are long over. Rode and raced for so many years, now I just tool around the neighborhood with my wife (who isn’t a “rider” per se).

Fun MSR yesterday with three world champions battling it out on the Cipressa, the Poggio, and the Via Roma. Any would have been worthy, but I was hoping Ganna would be rewarded for his efforts and somehow pull it out, but he's not going to outsprint MVdP. And now it's almost cobbled classics time!

36.5 miles today, another distance record. Probably about the limit I can do right now due to time, I have responsibilities to attend so I have to get home by 10am.

Cycling has a big initial monetary investment for a bike and gear and so on, but then it's not too bad. But the time investment goes on and on. I'm retired and I still have a hard time fitting a ride in every day. Especially a long outdoor ride.

Got the fit dialed in over some smaller rides and everything seems to be solid on the new bike. Pinarello X7 with Ultegra Di2 and 700x30's (up from my "old" 28s and down from the provided & pictured 32's). Will try a ~50 miler this weekend to really see - bike is faster per Strava segment times so far.

I remember the days I would ride regardless of the temperature or rain. Those days are over for me. I only go out when it’s nice. No more 20 hours or more each week riding.

I don't want to jinx it, but Saturday looks like the inaugural ride. Aiming for 30 miles. Cardio condition is good, from an excellent winter swimming season.
Riding posture muscles and legs should be interesting, having not seen a bike in almost 6 months. |

I've been stuck indoors most of the past month and yesterday I got outside for a ride. My legs were toast after 20 miles despite doing lots of indoor riding. Different bike, different conditions. I'm finally seeing some decent riding weather in the forecast, so hopefully I can get back to 30 miles rides soon.
