523i ??

Hey Guys, I know this is a e90 forum; however, I was at the Irvine BMW dealership today (yes, far away from home) and decided to test drive a 335i (I was bored). When I was in their back lot, I noticed a black 5 series with a 523i emblem. 523i?? Didn't know it existed. The window sticker said 2007 525i. When I asked the CA about it, he had to ask other CAs about it as well. No one knew what the deal was and simply provided a "BMW must of made a big mistake."

Anyone else seen mistakes like this on a brand new car? Wish I had my camera phone...interesting.

We have 323i's in Canada, but nothing below a 525i. Very strange. Unless they intend to go the 523/528/535 route at some point.

There was a thread on here about a 335i that was mislabeled here in KC as a 325i. I asked about it when I was in the dealership the other day. The CA said a gentlemen went ahead and bought the mislabeled car and was going to keep it mislabeled.

edit: Here's the picture I took back when this first came up to help disprove the idiots and their photoshop remarks.

The 523 is a car that they sell in Germany and other markets outside North America, they sell it here in Japan, it's an inline 6 with 170 HP and it's a nice car, but it would be a dog in the states..the power is average to say the least but if i wanted a 5 series and not the 3 I could deal with the loss of power.....
