02 E46 M3 halogen to xenon upgrade??
Hi!
I am currently looking at a 2002 E46 M3 and according to the seller, the car does not have the oem bi-xenon setup. I love xenons and really want them on this car! Do the non-xenon lights differ in appearance compared to the xenon lights on an M3? If they do, is it possible for me to upgrade the non-xenons with a xenon kit (i think the M3 uses H7 bulbs, right?)? Thanks guys Tim |

I thinkk the only diff is the xenon have the blue light. I would guess you could upgrade. I know someone that did it on thier e36 M3.

Bi-xenon I think is pointless, just go with a set of normal HID headlights with projector

yup it is almost a direct plug and play to get bi-xenon capabilities on your car. i did the swap myself on my car. the new headlights will be easy enough to install, however to get them to work properly, you have to have someone program your car to 'accept' the xenons as they run at different voltages than the halogens. in my case i brought mine to a dealer and they charged me half a unit of labor. i can direct you to a user on e46fanatics that can prolly get you a good pair of bixenon headlights for a reasonable price (definitely not $1000 for a pair like the e9x's)
there is a bit more work to do to get the actual "bixenon" part to work, but i don't want to make this post TOO long winded lol. following the steps above you will at least have your low beam xenons working which are MUCH brighter than your halogen low beams. let me know if you want more info on this |
