I picked up a K5 as a daily driver. It's a fantastic car for the money and looks great. I got the GT line in wolf grey with red interior like the pics below.

It's very comfortable, gets great mileage (on regular), has all the latest tech (safety features, wireless CarPlay, etc), and has a great design inside and out.

Biernmann has been doing some fantastic work over at Hyundai/Kia/Genesis. Honestly the new Stinger and G70 are excellent sport sedans that deserve to be recognized in the market, and the Veloster N is a hoot! Very exciting to see the new Elantra N when it hits dealers.

The GT line comes with 19s and the 330i has 18s, by the way.
Very fair comparison. The Turanza is a much worse tire. They did tire/traction tests, not handling tests... Put the widest summer tires that will fit on each and get lap times. I have no doubt which car will win. That said, the K5 has a big advantage in weight. Curb weight of the GT is 3,228 lbs compared to the 330i's 3,582. So I can believe the acceleration claims. Although you can easily plug in a JB+ and code in Sport+ which would change things for less than $300 (:

Putting such crappy tires and limiting wheels on the BMW is not excusable. I can't stand the cars that are pawned off by the auto manufacturers without adequate rubber, like Mustang GTs with 255 rear section tires. Utterly ridiculous.

Performance and acceleration are adequate and plenty of power for passing on the highway. As for curvy roads...no such thing as that in south Florida.

I was surprised when I first found out, too. xDrive adds another 182 pounds, by the way. 3,764 lbs curb weight is definitely a lot, but that's just how (luxury) cars are these days. A 2020 C300 4Matic is just over 4,000 pounds! Tech, features, safety, sound deadening, etc. all add weight. The constantly increasing size of cars contributes, too.

Where did you see 4,000lbs at. C300 weighs 3400 and 3600 (rwd/awd), same as a 3er.

That is weird, MB USA lists different weights, so does C/D which tested a C300 coupe which is typically heavier than the sedan, even larger engined C43 and even the C63 with a big V8 comes right under 4,000lbs, so its strange that the 4-pot of all models would be the heaviest?

Definitely a testament to how good "regular" cars have gotten over the years though. At the time the E90 was being produced even the thought of such a comparison would have been laughable. No Toyota, Kia, Honda etc was even remotely in the same league.

BMW can still do a better job and purposely chooses not to. For example there are a lot of cars, even from non-performance brands, that have better steering than BMW. I don't see how making their steering a little tighter and less vague would lose them sales. If you market yourself as the "ultimate driving machine", then at least try to give a sense it isn't complete bull.

I believe they fixed the steering on their latest models. Both the post-LCI M5 and the new X5MC I drove recently have a nice precise steering.

The issue isn't precision but rather a lack of tactile feedback. Early EPS BMW's did (and some still do) suffer from weird weighting and ratio's, but I haven't found a new BMW to have any feedback yet.

I haven't driven those models so I can't speak to them. But I've never found BMW's EPS to be lacking in precision, it's more the lack of proper weighting and when such a thing is present, it's very artificial and needlessly heavy. The M cars I've driven are better, but I miss the days when even a base 3-series felt very dialed in.

Porsche's steering on the other hand provides that natural-feeling resistance against the front wheels that we covet. Macans and Cayennes are very popular so they've seem to have struck a proper balance between sportiness and daily usability. Why BMW refuses to do this is beyond my understanding.

There was no precision in the "dead spot" in the middle of the steering.
