Works on the mu receptors to slow down motility. Opioids bind to mu receptors as well, causing opioid induced constipation.

it wasnt just randomly discovered. obviously somebody with a strong chemistry background knew that the active ingredient would act on the same receptors as opiates do.

im sure there are plenty of drug users/abusers with a strong chemistry background these days given how over prescribed opiates are in this country.
