Help with transmission problem

For context my car is a 2002 e46 m3 with a 6 speed manual transmission
Flywheel has been resurfaced last year

The transmission has brand new oem fluid in it, i drove the car last spring with no issues at all. The car has been sitting for a year now.

I am having an issue with my transmission. My shifter feels locked in place when the car isn't running. It is doing the same thing while the car is running. I can roll the car freely in neutral but it pings loudly as it rolls.

So far i have tried:
• Getting the rear wheels off the floor and depressing the clutch while the car is running to see if it engages, all it does is grind. (sometimes it will engage)
• Checking the clutch master cylinder fluid level, all good.
• Detaching the selector rod which confirmed the transmission is locked up and not the shifter assembly.

Any guesses on what it could be before i pull the transmission off and take it apart?
