M2C and M2CS will be the new e30 M3 in coming years...

The design language in the new models will help the current M2C and M2CS to become the new e30 M3 in the coming years... It will age well and check all the boxes with style, driving behavior and perfect power for the size. It would be one of the all-time legends if they could have it at 3,300lbs instead of 3,600lbs. That's my 2 cents...

Congrats Bmw! Not only did you manage to screw up the front end but now you've made the back end so hideous that we will all miss the old bland look.

My goodness some of you are over the top. Let's not pretend the current 2 series is handsome from the rear view. I liked the looks of my M2 but the rear end was not a strong point.

I believe this is because the car is a clay model, therefore the grille slats are not real, but only a graphic to visualize it
The first leaked images are a clay model. These are an actual production car.

The car seen in other photos seems have good proportions but some detail like lights are...inexplicably hideous. Taillights seem those of a 90s jap car.

Well you are probably right, I did not mean the whole car, front & rear bumpers are for sure real but not sure if the whole car is...especially all those arrow stickers around front lights indicate for me that they are testing out some mounting points / part gaps and you only see these stickers on on the front / rear where the bumpers connect to the body, nowhere else on the car...so my theory here was that they use a closed grill / sticker to not see trough if there is only clay behind...but just a theory...

The QC markers and tolerance tabs are the clue. There are many more on the car but difficult to see. Someone took still photos of Production Management Remote Video Conference.

I do not want to be negative, but BMW has a real design department issue.
Why do you have to get OK with it? Is someone making you like/buy this?

This is why bmw can keep making crappy designs. Because they know eventually people care most about one design feature only: the blue and white roundel on the hood.
No Roundel obsession here, would be my first BMW.
My preference is AWD 2 Door coupes smaller and lighter than the A5 / 4 Series / C Class.
Such cars are getting harder to find today.
So, if a less than perfect front bumper air intake is the only issue I can live with it, we will see.

Why does this car get the Power Dome on it's bonnet, and the G8X M3/4 does not?

It would improve the looks of the G8X immensely, and draw attention away from the grill.
I will miss the Power Dome on the M3/4.

That was exactly my point. I like my M2 rear end but it's just slightly bland looking. I'd take that over this new rear which appears too "boxy" with its sharp angles. And that fake exhaust tip is

The OGM2 is way more of a classic design before the conjoined kidney's came to life

Yeah, there's no chance of that happening.

BMWs are getting bigger, heavier, and more technologically dependent.

The F8X actually lost weight over the E9x. I'm predicting the G8x will be even heavier that the E9x.

The G-series M2 will unfortunately continue with that theme.

BMW already had their chance with the current M2CS.

Agreed.
I believe G8X will be heavier too, just because of the increasing dimensions.
Having said that, BMW might try to lighten the chassis, which they could not do with the M2CS, and so when they strengthen it, they counter-acted the lightening measures. No chance of changing to a lighter chassis... which they might be able to do on the next one.

My fingers are crossed for a lighter, more powerful G80. But I'm not holding my breath on the weight issue.
Plus I'm disappointed with the ever increasing dimensions!

It's just so disheartening to see this brand do this.
It's been a long time coming. First BMW started to severely dilute their driving experience roughly a decade ago. It was only a matter of time before their styling also started catering to the "Instagram-ification" of society. These cars all attempt to look trendy to appease to a certain demographic.

And I will say, that nearly every single BMW owner I know is the type of person who just wants a nice car that looks cool and has a badge they can flex on people. They don't know a thing about steering, handling, etc. BMW knows their customers well and has transformed their brand over the past decade to cater to their interests.

With all this being said, I can live with this new 2-series despite those ridiculous headlights and edges of the front bumper.

My favorite memory at a BMW dealer was talking to this guy in a waiting room about his 535i. He actually thought the car had a 3.5L V6 under the hood, I had a very long talk with him explaining how BMW's nomenclature works and how they've never had any V6's. This guy had 3 different 5-series, all of which he thought had V6's.

I'm glade it doesn't have the ugly beaver front, but those lights, front and tail kind of scream Subaru!

Maybe the all car will look good, and the m2 even better but for what I can see now, I still prefer the current M2C.

Overall it looks okay, hard to tell when you're not looking at the full front end as you can't really see if the design elements work together. The headlights have a weird shape and the front bar looks over designed. Rear end looks good apart from the shape of those exhausts.

The G series front ends just seem to be such a big departure from previous gens and have lost the simplicity and elegance of that classic Bmw look.

Oh well, just relieved there is no oversized grille

I kinda still don't want to believe this is the new 2 series lol. So it's gonna come out in a couple years and then be around for another 8 after that? I thought they were going with the L-shaped tail lights from now on and then they essentially put pre-LCI E90 tails on it lol. It already looks kinda dated in the lineup because it uses the old design language that (I thought) they were phasing out. Now BMW is gonna have like 2 or 3 eras of design languages for the next decade...
