MagnaFlow 16602 installation, E46 M3

Here's a quick rundown of a recent install of the MagnaFlow 16602 cat-back for the E46 M3 that I thought might be of interest here:

Video clip I put together of the start-up and revs:

Finished product:

Exhaust out of the box. Quality is great and stainless always looks nice.

Got the car on jack stands, about a foot or more of room to work with underneath the car. It was surprisingly enough room although more would have been ideal.

stock exhaust

I dropped the stock exhaust in one piece without disconnecting any sections. I unbolted it from the headers and the hangers in the rear.

side by side comparison

At this point you install the Magnaflow exhaust starting from the headers, x-pipe, connecting pipes and muffler.

Good question. Right now, we only make a few late-model Mopar and pony-car headers, but I will pass on your request. Feel free to email our Tech and Sales line at muffler@magnaflow.com to let us know there, as well.

And of course, don't hesitate to PM us here with any exhaust questions and feedback.

Thanks for sharing Magna_Flow!

We've installed your muffler on a couple different E46 M3s and it's always been one of our favorites in regards to volume, tone, low drone, and power! Two of highest NA power'ed E46 M3s ran your exhaust.

My only quick suggestion, never jack the rear of the car from the differential cover. There is an increased risk of damage. Just a couple inches in front of where the rear was jacked in those photos, is the rear subframe carrier. I highly recommend jacking the car from there where the flat spot is.

Awesome work with all your exhaust systems!
