What type of bike computer is being used by the members posting here?

I have an old Cateye Micro Wireless bike computer I had used on my previous bike. I was considering one that might add cadence and/or heart monitor. I am not really looking for a GPS bike computer, at least not now. I might reuse the Cateye Micro Wireless if I can find the diameter for Specialized Nimbus 2 27.5x2.3 tire that comes with the Roll 3.0. Since this is a newer tire than when my Cateye manual was published the value is not here. I looked in a Cateye Padrone manual and found settings for a 27.5x2.25 tire but not the 2.3. I think it is going to be something like 2199 for the setting. This should be pretty close. If anyone can find it and post it here I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

That's definitely something to consider. Any suggestions on what brand I should be focused on? I realize many of these are user preference but practical experience is really the standard. Thanks.

I have a new(ish) Wahoo Elemnt Roam (V1) that I picked up a few months ago. My older Wahoo Elemnt was getting old and slow to boot up, although it still works. These days you can use an Apple Watch as a decent cycling computer. The latest models will even recognize power meters.

Nearly a carbon copy of yesterday, weather-wise, with just a tad more wind. Knocked out another 30 miles. That'll be it for a while, though. Winter is coming back starting tomorrow.

I've used Garmin for a while (no complaints), but best to read reviews. I think it's a matter of preference with some riders.

There are certainly a lot of decent choices so I am going to wait on this for a while. I do have my old Cateye Micro Wireless and changed the battery out the other day. I set it up for what I suspect is close to the diameter of the tire I will now ride on and have installed it to the bike. Sensor and spoke magnet are in place and a quick spin of the front tire shows it is working.

My ultimate goal is to ride and ride often. I need to lose a fair amount of weight and I did so 12 years ago when I was riding a lot. Since I will be mostly on the local trail system (110 miles worth) the Cateye will work fine. When I get down closer to 200 lbs I will probably invest in a road bike and new computer but I will cross that bridge when it comes. I do appreciate the insight nonetheless. However, knowing me there is a good possibility I bite the bullet and pick up a new computer whether it is a GPS or not is yet to be known. Thanks for the insight!!!

FWIW, I don't use the NAV feature on my Wahoo computer. I ride the same trail all the time and I know every road in this area, so I don't need a map. But the GPS also keeps track of mileage and speed, so it's pretty essential and is standard on most newer computers.

I have a Garmin 1030 Plus that links well with Strava, my Garmin Radar rear light, my Duotrap, and my Garmin watch etc. I like the size of the 1030 plus, as I can read it without glasses!

As someone said in an earlier post, it is personal choice, as all do the job, just down to interface preference and what eco-system you want to use.

I've recently consolidated down to a simple Garmin Edge 530, I prefer the smallest form while having reasonable (and visible) data screens real estate. I've used both Wahoo and Garmin and have gripes on both, but interface preference is probably going to be the decision point. Wahoo App setup is way better, but I prefer the Garmin user interface and hardware a little better - I use it/pair it with multiple power meters, H/R straps, Shimano Di2, Varia radar, etc. - it's reliable.

I've got the 530 too, no complaints...

30 miles today.Temp right at 50F and a light wind out of the south, so a crosswind for me. Good to be outside again. Also went past my 5200 mile/yr goal. Now at 5216 with 10 days left in the year.

Finished up the year with 5407 miles on the bike. 7 more miles than my previous best year. 683 miles walked. Total distance of 6090 miles. Now it's time for an easy rest week before starting in on 2024.

What to do with an older Specialized Aerotech E5 S-Works. Bought frame fork and seat post and came with Dura Ace bottom bracket installed. I had purchased Motobecane Super Record a full ultegra 2x10 to mount on the Specialized but I like the ride with CF Stays and forks vs the stiff S works.

Does it have any value these days or just make it a fixed gear bike.

My LBS had a classic old Schwinn in the shop. Nearly mint. It was originally a 10-speed, but the owner had them convert it to a single speed. Not a fixie, but just a single gear. He wanted it to do flat bike trail rides with his wife.

Just a thought.

75F and sunny today. Strong crosswind, but otherwise perfect weather. Couldn't pass up the chance to ride.
