Are we all in agreeance that getting a shot is better than being sick? I'll say no more.

Got mine when I turned 60. For some reason they wouldn't give me one before that. My mother had shingles and it was awful. Also had a co-worker (who was barely 40) get it. It's nasty in the extreme. If you can get the vaccine, do it.

That's like Steve Job thinking his diet would reverse his pancreatic cancer. All it did was delay his treatment and decreases his chances of survival.

Shingles is triggered by UV, stress, immune system stress, etc.

My dad has been suffering from shingles since Christmas 2019.

I'm 55, but still not getting the vax. I had CP when I was about 10.

While I too am a huge believer in strengthening your immune system, this is not something you just fight thru. It's like chicken pox or herpes (cold sores, etc.) If someone gives it to you - you have it - period. Once it attaches to your nervous system, it flares up whenever it's triggered by stress, or whatever. It's there for life.

It's like saying you have a strong immune system - so you don't have to worry about heart disease.

Colds, flu, etc I'm right there with you though - I prefer to let my body handle fighting those out on their own as opposed to stuffing myself full of antibiotics, etc.

Everyone has to choose their own path though.

That's good enough for me.

Lets not ruin this thread, okay?
Not trying to ruin the thread chief. When I had it, I thought I remember reading that the Vax just helps the symptoms be less. Just like many other vaccines.

You have it but its constantly being pushed back into the nether regions of your nervous system until your immune system gets weak enough to allow it back out. Anything you can do to prevent that helps.

I just didn't want this thread to get political. IMO that's how these threads get ruined, chief.

I just read up again. The new Vax (2019 ) seems to be working better. I had 15 years ago. Still, it does not prevent you from getting it. When I'm old enough to get jt, I definitely will. It was a long 2 weeks when I had it.

How does saying: it doesn't prevent sound political brother? If it's a fact, it is what it is. I'm all about getting it. If your old enough, I recommend everybody get it.

Yeah, it sounds like it can be really bad. I have a compromised immune system so I need all the help I can get.

Hoping I don't get it because of getting the vaccine. I do understand the vaccine doesn't last forever so I may have to get it again. Maybe they'll have something different by then.

I agree. I just wish there would have been at least one long term study to show if it caused any long term adverse events. There are none.
