So will it also have terrible range since its being built on an ICE platform rather than a BEV one? I don't think that will be a good idea for what will be a six-figure car.

Who knows how high they will have to jack it up to fit a huge battery pack ⁉️

It is actually being built on a platform designed to be drive agnostic. That doesn't mean that a drive agnostic platform will be as good as one specific to ICE or electric motors but it is a platform that was designed for electric motors and batteries.

I also don’t understand how they plan to fit fully electric powertrain alongside traditional ones without significant drawbacks on a universal platform. We shall see what they come up with

It is similar to the Audi e-tron SUV which is built on VAG's MLB-Evo vehicle matrix and the Mercedes EQC which is built on a modified version of the MRA architecture. The results are indeed less than ideal. Of course, those two manufacturers have dedicated EV "skateboard" designs that they are quickly transitioning to (including the J1 underpinning the Porsche Taycan). In BMW's case, there is no pure EV platform on the immediate horizon, so it remains to be seen how well they'll manage to compete.

Is it still going to be bland inside and out with an ugly face?
Sales lag behind the S-class due to lackluster design, not powertrain.

That was going to be my question too. Can't wait to drive an electric 7 series with a 100 mile range lol

You also have the X7 M60i being a possibility.

They didn't bother creating the graphics for the gauge cluster for the hell of it, so they were at least looking at making one at some point in time. With BMW selling 2.5 X7s to every 7er in the US for 2019 (and sales didn't even start until March), I bet we end up seeing more variants of the X7 then the 7er over time.
