Where does coding occur on vehicle?

So I picked up an 03 M3 recently and not sure whether there was any coding done as the seatbelt doesn't chime if not put on and the reveres pass mirror dips really low. Wondering if I unplug battery for some time whether this would reset everything? But not sure where the coding occurs on our cars. Any help or suggestions on how to determine are much appreciated. Thanks!

It depends on your VO

With NCS Expert you are able to reset every control unit to factory settings by just coding it with an empty .MAN file.
Every coding done will be set to factory after that.
Some things like comfort indicators could also be set to OFF but should not be a issue turning it back ON in GM5 module

Is this an app for a phone? I have the same issue. No chime, mirror dips all the way down, no comfort signals.
