Sell 06 Boxster and get used Z4??

I am contemplating whether or not to sell my 2006 Boxster with 8K miles bought in March and getting a used 2005 Z4 3.0 or Audi TT 3.2 for around $32-$34K. I love driving the car and how it feels/handles and even though I m going to lose hell lot of money to get rid of the Boxster, at $250/oil change, I don’t think I can handle the on coming (I know it will) maintenance issues not covered under warranty. Plus the monthly payments on a Z4 or TT will be a LOT less. Do you guys think it’s worth it to keep the ‘poor man’s Carrera’ in my garage?? What would you guys do?? I need some input before I make a stupid mistake. (Or was buying a Boxster a mistake in the first place? ). I do like the Z4 3.0 alot Thanks guys!

Why did you buy the Boxster again If money is not an issue, sell the Boxster, but you are probably going to be taking a substantial loss when you sell it I sold my "poor man's Porsche" last year for a 50% profit. Just curious, any pics of the Boxster, color ext/int?

Oh, btw, nice choice on color for your 330i

Am I the only one that doesn't understand that post?

He already said he knows he'd loose money selling it. What's a picture of a Karman Ghia (sp?) got to do with a boxster? How'd you go about selling your boxster for a 50% profit?

Me, I think money is an issue that's why he's thinking about getting rid of the boxster. Obviously he's considering that the car isn't worth the expense, especially with possible off warranty repairs looming.

I'm not sure I'd go down to a Z4 or, especially, to a TT. They're not on the same level as a boxster.

A VW Karmann Ghia is often referred to as a "Poor Man's Porsche" I mentioned it because some used cars can actually be sold for a profit Remember, he's asking for opinions.

Even a base Caymen? I know those things, along with my regular Boxster, are dogs...I think my 330 is lot faster or feels that way at least....

I'm not sure I'd classify at 20+ year old semi-collectible car as "used". And it doesn't have much relevance to selling an 06 Boxster now does it?. It's still perfectly possible that you could sell the boxster at a profit though, all depends on what the payoff is right?

Yeah, if I were in your shoes I'd probably try to get out of it and get something closer to what you want. It should still have plenty of warranty left on though doesn't it?

I still wouldn't bust down from a Boxster to a normal Z4 or a TT. They're more cruiser cars than sports cars.

I think we were all in our 'joke' mode when we were talking about Cayman...why would i sell a Boxster and buy a Cayman?
The reason was to get rid of the Porsche cause of their high maintenance cost.

Personally, I would stick with the Boxster. The only people who call the Boxster a "poor man's Porsche" seem to be more concerned with image than the actual performance of a car. If its too much money, thats one thing. But it seems you have at least another 3 years before your warranty expires.

I think going to a Z4 or a TT would be a significant step down. Also, if your head is too big for a Boxster (987), the Z4 seems to have even less room (haven't been in the new TT, yet).
