Coupe vs Convertible

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hi All,

Anyone else have the dilema of coupe vs convertible? Most coupes going for 30k+..... I found a nice vert 1 owner for 26k with 72000 miles... Might pull the trigger. Convince me one side

M3 vert weight is closer to e39 M5 than e46 M3 coupe.
M3 coupe weight is closer to CSL than e46 M3 vert-- and weight is THE thing that makes the CSL great.
M3 vert 0-60 is closer to e46 330i than e46 M3 coupe.

... and the back seat/trunk (which are the benefits of an M3 over a bespoke sports car) are hugely compromised in the vert vs the coupe.

... and the torsional rigidity is dramatically compromised compared to the coupe.

... and most tracks don't allow you out in a vert.

The fun factor in a vert outweighs the benefits of a coupe lol but that all depends on what you use it…

Most tracks/clubs don't allow you out in verts, and tracks are where lots of M car fun happens...

If use case is cruising and mountain drives under the condition you don't mind dealing with potential top issues that haven't been fixed, convertible all day. Else, coupe.

Agree - if you plan to track, I'd focus on getting a coupe. I don't track so vert is super fun specially with kids in the back! I had a coupe and sold it and got a vert afterwards. For my use I don't miss the coupe haha
