2005 BMW M3 Vs 2006 BMW M3 or any other year

Are there any differences in M3's since 2001. Are all M3's since 2001 the same.

2006 has competition Rims

2003.5 started putting strut bar over engine (i doubt it was over the engine from 2001-2003.

so with the better rims and breaks the 2006 M3 with competition package out performs other E46 M3's

I heard a rumor once that there was a suspension bushing upgrade or something after the first couple years to correct some mild handling quirks in the early models. Of course I only remember reading this once and it was on forum so who knows if it is accurate info.

You probably have some of the same concerns I have about being the first on the boat to buy a first year M3. It would suck to put all your eggs in one basket and go for a 2008 or 2009 and then in 2010 a huge upgrade in announced. However, I kinda doubt BMW would do that. At least history doesnt show any reason they would.

Suspension

I heard more rumors as well about suspension upgrades to sort out the terrible understeer on early cars. I think enigma has the details on this. Of course they did not get SMG until year 2 as well.
