New to me M3 and couple questions-

Just picked up this M3- 2004 SMG tranny is a little weird but not that terrible.

Is there supposed to be something in the big empty space near passenger firewall?

Also this wiring any ideas? Doesnt look OEM. Halos?

Thanks!

It definitely looks like a halo harness mine looks the same. As far as the empty compartment. That’s normal that’s how all E46 Ms look.

That compartment is for the ABS pump on earlier models. I recall it being 01-03 the pump is there and on 03.5-06 the pump got relocated.

To be specific, this compartment was used for MK20 DSC pump till 08/2002. MK60 was introduced before 2003 update. In RHD cars like e.g., UK market it was always used for DSC pump.

Yes, that's a halo harness.

As for the empty space.... It's picnic box. You put eggs in a ziplock container and throw it in there. Then go for a nice twisty road run and when you come back they are cooked and scrambled.
