2035 still a long way away, manufacturers have been threatened, fined, have lost billions with jobs lost and public money squandered on EV refunds from the public purse instead of being returned back to the public with reduced taxes. |

US to Sell Off Entire Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve
03/05/2024 ....the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the fiscal year, a million barrels of the government's strategic reserve of petroleum would be sold off—the same amount as in the NGSR, which is located in New York Harbor, Boston, Massachusetts and South Portland, Maine. "Upon the complete of such sale, the Secretary [of Energy] shall carry out the closure of the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve," the bill states, and "may not establish any new regional petroleum product reserve unless funding of the proposed regional petroleum product reserve is explicitly requested in advance in an annual budget." The OBozo administration established the NGSR following the destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy in 2012, which left many in the northeast without gasoline. Hmmm You don't think the Government would be attempting to manipulate fuel prices? |

Several years ago, multiple auto OEM's announced termination of all ICE development. In the last 6 months I have seen at least 3 quietly roll that back. Now we get to see if the ban by date and ban by emissions dates stick in the USA and EU. Now we see if political pain makes anyone blink.

Maybe I have this whole EV thing wrong?
This is really about social networking. EV's and their owners lined up to charge their cars at night in major metropolitan cities is a great way to meet new people. Who doesn't want to get to know some Nuestra Familia gang members? Maybe your curious about the 18th Street gang? You might want to check out the Dodge City Crips or some of the boys from the Sinaloa Cartel? You can discuss things you have in common like your wallet, jewelry, you car or your life? Man how stupid do you have to be to place yourself in that kind of situation? |

Automakers have already said the 2028-30 EU/USA ICE emissions goals will drive 90% or more of ICE into extinction. The Germans know this will result in the destruction of the domestic auto industry, which is why the wails of anguish from Germany are increasing.

I think if you live in the city and can afford to have multiple vehicles, one of those vehicles being an EV could make sense. Nice little commuter, run around town vehicle, etc. But as someone who grew up in a rural area and still has to commute 40 min-1 hour in -30°C (or worse), I just still don't think EV is there yet. If I could afford a new plug-in hybrid I'd try one of those first probably.

Tesla shares slip 5% after suspected arson attack halts production at Berlin gigafactory
Mar 5 2024 Tesla’s gigafactory near Berlin is likely to be without power for several days and production is not expected to resume this week, Tesla’s Berlin factory head said, according to Reuters. The facility is likely to be without power for several days and production is not expected to resume this week, Tesla’s Berlin factory head said, Left-wing extremists the “Volcano Group” claimed responsibility for the attack in a letter posted to alternative news site Kontrapolis. “We sabotaged Tesla today,” it said, according to a Google translation, before denouncing the electric vehicle maker’s professed green credentials. “These are either the dumbest eco-terrorists on Earth or they’re puppets of those who don’t have good environmental goals,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on X. Environmental activists began occupying a forest close to Tesla’s Gruenheide plant last week in protest to the expansion plans. The occupation began late Wednesday, with demonstrators building a dozen treehouses across the wooded area. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/03/05/tesl...on-attack.html Never Wrestle with a Pig. Affordable local transportation is easy with the proper ICE choice and it doesn't carry the environmental impact of battery manufacturing, transportation and recycling.

When it became obvious that EV's and Utility scale battery storage would become a thing several years ago, I set up an investment folder that now has around 15 EV supply chain companies in it. I never funded it thank god, that bucket of stocks is down 26% since I created it. The math around EV batteries just does not add up. The math around charging companies does not add up unless they are being subsidized. Insanity. Oh, and now we are headed into recession, should be entertaining!

Finally some truth
Volkswagen hit with 2 lawsuits claiming that a Porsche EV battery triggered the massive 2022 fire that sank a cargo ship with thousands of cars on board March 5, 2024 Volkswagen AG faces a pair of lawsuits in Germany over claims it was the battery in a Porsche electric vehicle that triggered the 2022 fire onboard a massive cargo ship that eventually sank with thousands of cars on board. One of the suits was filed in a court in Stuttgart where VW’s Porsche unit is based. The case was brought by half a dozen plaintiffs, including Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd., the ship’s operator, and Allianz SE, one of the insurers of the vessel, according to a spokesman for the tribunal. The Panama-flagged Felicity Ace caught fire near the Azores archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean two years ago and was left adrift after the crew was rescued. An internal email from VW’s U.S. operations at the time revealed there were 3,965 vehicles aboard the ship. The cargo ship’s loss could have cost the automaker at least $155 million, according to a risk-modeling company’s estimate. https://fortune.com/europe/2024/03/0...housands-cars/ I'm sure all the typical players will be by to say we were right and they were wrong Last edited by Car-Addicted; 03-05-2024 at 03:26 PM.. |

Tesla Superchargers Cost More For Other EVs, Unless You Buy A Membership
The Tesla Supercharger network is opening up to other EVs. But charging costs extra for outsiders. Tesla is charging owners of other EVs roughly 35% more per kilowatt-hour (kWh), according to rates listed on the company's app. Supercharging rates vary widely by location and time of day (some stations offer lower prices during off-peak hours), so that's just a ballpark. At some locations, we observed a premium of closer to 37%, while at others it was as low as 23% during off-peak hours. However, Tesla is also offering a $12.99-per-month membership that grants other EV owners the same pricing that Tesla drivers get. That may be worth it, depending on how much one plans to Supercharge. https://insideevs.com/news/710822/te...cost-ford-evs/ Just the other day my gas station told me I would have to pay 20 cents a gallon more unless I bought their membership. |
