Wheel Hairline Crack Repairable?
Hi there,
I just sadly discovered that the cause of my slowly leaking tire was not a nail but instead a hairline crack on the inner lip of my front right ZCP wheel (see attached pic). Anyone here have experience with the success of wheel repair shops fixing something like this? Thanks for any insights available. Rob

So, I went to Rolling Stock here in SF (www.rollingstocksf.com) and they welded it for $110 + $30 for remounting the tire and balancing. The remaining questions are:
1. How long will it last? 2. Can it withstand track days? Will update once I have new info.

when wheels fractures, just avoid refinishing it.
You never know the depth of fracture, hence a refinisher is able to only get the surface weld done. Also welding will cause the local material to become brittle which is not very ideal for cyclic loading like wheels. |
