BMW E46 M3 Brake Cooling kit

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
USD 300.00

Item Interest
I've been developing and selling brake cooling kits for several different models as a hobby for a few years and have mostly sold them at a Swedish racing/trackday forum called Rejsa. The only exception is my kit for the E8X Z4 M that I sold mostly to people in the US and Canada.

My original thread over at Rejsa: https://rejsa.nu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=112776

My E8X Z4 M thread here at Bimmerpost: https://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1634387

This kit replaces the OEM fog lights with ducts that are installed with brackets that are glued/taped (double sided) on the inside of the bumper. The front backing plates replaces the OEM ones and in the rear you have to modify the OEM backing plates.
The kit includes brake cooling ducts for the front bumper, backing plates, funnels for the backing plates and brackets. All water cut metal pieces are NOT painted! Use rust protective paint for all the brackets and heat resistant paint for the backing plates. 2-3" fittings (your choice) up front and 2" in the rear, hose and hardware are NOT included in this kit. Minor modifications to the brackets might be needed.

Parts will be printed once payment is made, preferably via PayPal. The price in SEK is what I'm asking for when all fee's are paid (Exchange fee and if you want buyers protection).

The prices are, with the exchange rate of 05/04/2022, the following:

- BMW E46 M3 Front bumper ducts and brackets is 1.800 SEK (~191$)
- BMW E46 M-Sport Front bumper ducts and brackets is 1.600 SEK (~170$)
- Race backing plate and funnels is 1.300 SEK (~138$)
- Standard backing plates and funnels is 1.000 SEK (~106$)
- As an option a mesh insert can be bought for the front bumper ducts to prevent stones and such to get into the hose, this option is an additional 150 SEK (~16$) per pair
- Hose holders for the shocks is 150 SEK (~16$) per pair
- Rear intakes and brackets is 1.500 SEK (~159$)
- Rear backing plates/funnels is 1.000 SEK (~106$)

If you've bought a complete front brake cooling kit from me before or buy both a complete for the front and rear I will give you a discount of 500 SEK (~53$).

As of 5th of May 2022 the shipping cost (max 2 kg) to the US/Canada/UK is 216 SEK (~23$).

Since I had to change supplier for the metal parts I went from laser cutting to water cutting thus the metal parts will have minor surface rust/stains on them. A small issue since all metal parts have to be sanded before paint anyway.

Here's a kit with the standard backing plates:

It's been a while, but now the rear brake cooling is done! Had to switch supplier for the metal parts and that took a while. Rear brake cooling installed on my E46 M3 race car, should fit nicely on the E8X Z4 M platform as well as E36 M3.

Cut away as much as possible from the OE backing plates but kept a small part for structural rigidity.

Painted the backing plates in place as good as possible to avoid the edges from rusting.

My backing plates (adapters/heat shielding in reality) with the 3D-printed funnel. Don't mind the rough surface on the inside of the funnel, it's due to no supporting material and the shallow angle of the surface (will never be perfect with 3D-printing). All funnels will be printed with support but it won't be perfect on the inside anyway, but a lot better.

Parts for the rear intakes (forgot the support brace though). Painted all the metal parts to protect from rusting.

Fitment and don't forget to use loctite on all bolts/nuts!

Designed the kit in such a way you only have to remove 1 bolt at a time so you won't risk missaligning the toe angle.

Here you can see the support brace installed.

Finished result! Very pleased with it and I'm anxious to see how well it will perform on track. Rear brakes aren't as impactfull as the fronts when it comes to braking performance (at least with stock-ish brake setup/balance), but at least it will help a lot with pad and disc wear. On my race car it will help more because I've moved the brake balance more towards the rear.

The rear brake cooling kit is now done! A complete kit will be priced at 2500 SEK which is about 265$, if you've bought a complete front brake cooling kit from me before or buy both a complete for the front and rear I will give you a discount of 500 SEK which is about 53$. As always no hose or hardware is included and the metal parts are not painted.

I can sell rear intakes (with brackets) and rear backingplates/funnels separately if someone wants that, the price is 1500 SEK (About 159$) for the intakes and 1000 SEK (About 106$) for the backing plates/funnels.

Since I had to change supplier for the metal parts I went from laser cutting to water cutting thus the metal parts will have minor surface rust/stains on them. A small issue since all metal parts have to be sanded before paint anyway.

Complete kit for the rear brakes:

Only intakes/brackets for the rear:

Only backing plates/funnels:

Thank you! I just developed a more extensive kit for those who have converted to F8X M blue calipers. Test fitting it tomorrow on a friends car.

Yes of course! I have a new duct for the front bumper as well with 2x2,5” fittings made for the new backing plates. Also a new control arm duct for the caliper if anyone wouldn’t want to have a 2x2,5” duct on the bumper. I can post pictures when I’m home!

Totally forgot about this, sorry! Here's a few pictures of the front bumper ducts with dual 2,5" outlets. I have updated the ducts slightly by shortening the smaller inlet so it clears the washer fluid reservoir.
