Feel bad what has happened to Danny. He is such a likable guy. Hopefully he finds a home next season and resurrects his career.

From what I understand from Alpha Tauri is that the diff broke on Yuki's car and power was going to just one wheel.

Good news is that Binotto will personally sort out the 'easy to make' mistakes that happened especially with the tyre mix up for Carlito, the careless release of him from the box and the wheel gun forgotten by the wheel guy who fetched the fourth tyre.

It would be good news if a more capable person would sort that out...

SAI had such bad luck this weekend where he drove quite a good race.

Of course lots of top drivers do that, but if you really want cut down on emissions, this is where it starts. Go fly business class like the rest of the team. The amount of fuel 1 single trip per private jet costs, you can probably run 10 zonda's for a year long.

BTW the team bosses also fly private jet, if not owned then rented.
It's just how it goes, it's a glamorous jet set sport where money is no object.

That would fall directly on Laurent Mekies the Ferrari race director, a frenchman who has been with Ferrari since 2018.

So what is Binotto going to do about that?
But in the end it's not the tyre incident alone, or the unsafe pit release etc etc.
Every team makes a mistake somewhere during the race in a season (although I have to think really hard for RB mistakes; maybe the pitstops in Baku were a bit slow (3.2 sec or so)), but it's the amount of mistakes Ferrari makes.

They're just handing the championship to Max, despite Ferrari having a car that is pretty much just as good (RB is better on the one type of track, Ferrari on the other)

Really stupid mistakes like this tyre incident, but also claiming that they cant do things where other teams have no problem with it, like ferrari not double stacking pitstops in monaco where RB does it all the time, and in Zandvoort MERC also showed that they could with both pitstops done in short time.

They're just handing the championship to Max, despite Ferrari having a car that is pretty much just as good (RB is better on the one type of track, Ferrari on the other)
I think Binotto has a lot of things on his mind and he said rectifying those small things that other teams don't have a problem with would put them on the straight and narrow to concentrate on the race itself, with director Levies starting by putting the pit team on a refresher course to be more efficient as a start. Happens in every firm.
Unfortunately for Ferrari and Merc, RB now looks proficient on all types of tracks.

Pretty sad hateful comments on Hannah Schmitz....

https://firstsportz.com/f1-news-hann...ls-strategist/

Even Hammy condemned those comments. Despite Toto wanting a full investigation on Tsunoda-gate as he doesnt trust this...Maybe this feeds the comments of those 'fans'....

You're entitled to express bitterness, but do quit the name-calling.

Let's recap a couple of facts.

Hamilton and Russell both drive the Mercedes W13. They both got access to the same Mercedes people, tools, materials, facilities, data, internal meetings, etc. Mercedes is allowed to give team orders (also about the car set-up, pit stop strategy, tire choice, etc.). Both drivers are allowed to give feedback and make suggestions over the team radio.

The 2022 F1 season is a partial reset: new regulations require teams and drivers to adapt. 'It's not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.'

Hamilton (°1985) is indisputably a very seasoned Mercedes driver and 7-time WDC champion, who broke lots of F1 records. Russell (°1998) is a rookie Mercedes driver (previous F1 seasons at Williams: #20 with 0 points in 2019 | #18 with 3 points in 2020 | #15 with 16 points in 2021). But a super talent: alike Leclerc (2016-2017) and Piastri (2020-2021), Russell won GP3 and F2 consecutively (2017-2018).

Several figures about their salary exist (apart from merchandise), but most hint that Hamilton earns ± 10 times what Mercedes writes on Russell's paycheck. Now, with big money comes big expectations regarding 'return on investment'. And the WDC results so far reflect that Russell got the upper hand over his team mate: unlike Hamilton, Russell consistently ended 14 out of 15 races in the top 5 (1 DNF at Silverstone - first lap crash with Zhou). Hamilton won none of the 15 races this season (1 DNF at Spa - first lap crash with Alonso). And so now and then, mishaps by Red Bull or Ferrari (car issue, pilot error, pit stop issue or questionable team strategy decision) were a benefit for Mercedes to gain track position in several races.

One may conclude that either Russell is an excellent F1 driver, capable of extracting most out of the W13 and better responsive to change than Hamilton, or Hamilton lost his edge, or both.

Let's wait and see whether Hamilton and Mercedes will allow Russell to stay ahead of Hamilton in the WDC.

RUS knows that HAM's time is up as #1 driver, he's going to retire in the next 2-3 years, why would RUS be his BOT when he could make his own calls and get podiums or wins?

I seriously hope the RUS-HAM becomes the new ROS-HAM.

it was a long shot for Mercs to win.. this time it was the closest call ever so far in this season.. but after VSC things were much harder anyway.. though if there wouldnt be a VSC but SC instead, things could be different maybe.. one way or another RB was better anyway..

such a frustration for Mercs but probably they got theır maximum point available anyway..

well done to RB..

2017 M3  [8.50]
Good race, crazy events throughout. Poor Sainz...wth Ferrari???
Last few laps felt like a repeat of the last race last year. Keep Ham out, everyone goes on softs, Ham out of podium smh. I root for Hamilton, would like to see him win another championship but i have to wonder is as someone stated earlier, he's lost his edge... would've been nice to see a merc 2,3. They weren't gonna hold off verstappen. As much as it annoys me when i hear him cry on the radio "it's not fair" if he's not gapping people(I know...they ALL b$@tch and moan at times), i acknowledge that he's a great driver. RB has things sorted out, he's running away with the title.

I don't know if Hammy 'lost' his edge. The Mercedes W13 has been nowhere near the performance of the RB18 and Ferrari F175 on most tracks and only since a few races making progress.

RUS is just a good driver and has a good tactical mind which is handy to act on changing conditions on the track. Imho HAM never had that; what he says on the radio during the race never showed any of that imho.

Most people here predicted last year what would happen when RUS was going to replace BOT and predicted that HAM would get way more competition from his new teammate.
