Some new guy advice
Could use an opinion as I’m a first time E46 buyer. I know what the cars go for. But I guess I’m asking more of a “a what would you do” situation. Im excited but not so sure at the same time.
I found an (what looks to be almost mint)m3 near me. 2002 Two owners Previous owner was an older gentleman who bought it brand new in 2001 6 speed manual 150k miles Clean title Jet Black/Dove Grey Completely 100% stock Comes with all 4 keys Known Cons: Has CEL for emissions valve (is that code P0444)? Big 3 not done. Asking 19k but says he’ll take 16. I’m going to look at it before I make any further decisions. I’ll also get a PPI done if it seems worth it to take to that next step. What do you guys think? Anything I should look out for that you find specifically in an m3 that age? Thank you in advance. |

Assuming the car runs well and If paint/body is good, I'd say that's a pretty good deal at 16k. Just get the RACP checked to make sure the cracks aren't crazy big.

I agree with _paolo, it seems like a decent deal, I'd definitely get the PPI done to make sure there are no other gotchas. Also, get an idea of what getting the big 3 done in your area will cost you and be ready to do them. I bought one earlier this year that had the vanos done, but hadn't had the subframe or rod bearings (BMW had done them at 30k, but the car was at 150k miles). I picked mine up a little cheaper, but it was also an SMG.
