Drove a Taycan Turbo

...and holy hell that thing is incredibly fast. I’ve owned a GT3, I’ve driven a Model X P100d with ludicrous mode, nothing felt as fast as the Taycan. The instant acceleration is mind blowing. I am NOT an electric car guy in the least but I could definitely see it as an only car/daily driver. Even with the lack of sound it was pretty amazing and IMO it put the 971 Panamera turbo to shame. Much more sporty feeling than the Panamera and felt like a smaller car even though they’re similar size. Highly recommend trying one out if you haven’t.

I drove a volcano grey taycan turbo and it was very nice. But at $180k, I’d like a lot more range than 250 miles.

I drove one last year when they arrived at dealers. Very impressive in some remarks and a let down in others, in the end was a little too compromised for me. I'm interested in seeing the Audi E-Tron and Sport Turismo trims.

I would love to have one, if only they were 1/3 the price and had a little better range

I want one...but I would have to have an ICE vehicle on the side (basically I'd have to win the lottery). There is no way I would be satisfied with any electric car right now. I hate how there is nothing you can do with them power-wise to make yourself unique. Also, I really question the resale value of a Porsche EV the moment a new model or even LCI Taycan comes out...

I’ve been eying the Taycan S with the upgraded battery. In the real world reviews the range seems to be 270 ish miles. But if you keep everything else standard on it to keep the price low it looks very plain. If you start adding options that price jumps up significantly.

When they make a Macan EV with 300 mile range then I’d possibly be interested.

The topic of range distance in this car is perplexing. It's not the same measurement, but it's kind of like shopping for a Audi R8 V10 then bitching because it gets 14mpg in the city.

My lens may be skewed living in SoCal where charging stations are plentiful thus "range anxiety" doesn't exist.

It felt like driving a heavy car in the corners. Its straight-line fast.

I would have more range anxiety when pushing the car hard and backroading it for a large amount of miles (where chargers are hard to find) than taking it on a trip down a major highway where chargers are easier to find.

EVs are opposite from ICE when it comes to highway efficiency. I wonder how much the Taycan's 2nd gear helps at highway speeds.

I also wonder how many people plan on owning an EV without a dedicated "docking station" when not being used at night.

Range isn't the biggest issue for me with EV.

An EV isn't going to be a fun/exciting car in my garage regardless of 1/4 mile time. Its going to a daily driver. 200 miles range is plenty for every day dd stuff.

Having to wait 30 minutes to fully charge my car on a road trip to chicago or the east coast is a complete no go for me. not worth the trade off.

Test a Taycan turbo. First EV I’ve driven that was remotely fun. It’s honestly incredible.

I haven't driven one yet, but it had better be utterly amazing in all aspects for me to ever consider paying that much for it when I can get a P100D and grab a model 3 performance for my daughter simultaneously. Driven both Tesla's and I'm a fan. I believe I'll own one once I get this kid through college. The Porsche is sexier for sure though.

Agree, for cost of a nicely equipped turbo could get a model 3 and 718.

It’s a totally different experience, way more fun than the Tesla. Interior also way nicer obv. I wouldn’t buy a Taycan at current prices but at half price in 2-3 years it will be very tempting

And that's pretty much what I've heard. Used EV's scare me and I'm aware that's probably all in my head. If that changes, and the Taycan in used form falls into non outlandish territory, I could see myself in one. But I have a felling they're going to hold their value quite well.....they are freaking beautiful to look at though.
