I can't with this guy man. Just a few weeks ago he absolutely shreds a reporter who asked what if Merc doesn't nail the new regs and says my team doesn't make mistakes.

Now, here he is with this crap. If there are challenges then sure you can say you and the team aren't happy with where the car is right now. But these types of things remind me of the kid who always complained how hard a test was but still gets a 100.

Spot on !

I think that Mercedes made a huge mistake by removing the side-pods ..
While the body of the car is built around the PU with a extremely narrow rear , the new 2022 Mercedes PU is built to run without side-pods ..
That's why the 2022 Mercedes PU is developed to run with CCS cooling ...(chemical cooling system)

The issue is with the CCS cooling is that they can't go back with bigger side-pods to fix the porpoising ...

Currently the Red Bull RB18-B has the best handling and balance ..
Of course the Mercedes PU has as usual extreme power levels .
But power is nothing without control ....

MAX pulled P1 with a 1.31.720 ! And that looks very promising !

MAX said : There's much more in the cars handling and HONDA PU .
The P1 was set at 90 % ... But the HONDA PU screamed already very aggressive !
Of course .This wasn't a race , so we are still storing a lot of data ..and try to understand the new car .

Yeah if you gave the Mercs a lie detector test it would probably go off the scale

It's looking good for Max,as you say no bouncing (Newey magic) and that 18 looks stable as a rock. That time in the 1:31's is just mega and Max warned others he could go quicker.

HAM looked like he was on a Sunday drive taking it easy with the bucking 13, going off the track to avoid a slide with Russell sticking his neck out to get a quick time. After they collate all their data maybe they'll improve a bit.

Today MAX pulled a 1.31.720 in a winter test with a complete new car ...

And check out how it was in 2021 during the Bahrain QF sessions..

MAX was today very close while he didn't pushed the car at the limit ...

But...

A. Newey knew already during the winter break , that the 2022 FIA design regulations will require track specific aero setups regarding the porpoising .

This means we'll see the cars change a lot and more than before in every race in this season ...
